Has anyone landed a nollie? I started landing them this past week and they are very easy. You just put your front foot at the nose of the board and your rear foot in the middle. Then, you push the nose of the board into the water, and it pops right off the water. I also think (in reference to a previous post) that nollie shuv-its are very possible, and I wouldn't be shocked if people are already landing them. |

You could nollie in the flats, but not off the wake. Nollie shuvits are probably pretty easy, they're easy on a skateboard. |

All I know is that anytime i push my nose down in the water my board stops. Maybe the water is different down in Miami though, yea thats probably it. _________________ bindings suck |

No argument here, I've only wakeskated like 4 or 5 times.
I agree that evidence should be shown first. I didn't say the guy did it, I only said it wasn't impossible (except off the wake). I suggested that the nollie shuvit would be easy 'cuz like I said, it's easy on a skateboard. Obviously I don't have personal experience trying it on a wakeskate so it's very possible that I'm wrong. |

A wakeskate ollie is different from a skateboard ollie, on teh water it's all about popping the board onto the water with your back foot and letting it rise with you as you suck up your feet. From my own personal riding I cant see how you can get that energy off the nose without burying the tip and falling. _________________ www.integrity-wake.com

Fair enuff. I'm sure it can be done, there was a period of time when skaters didn't think you could nollie or fakie ollie. And the impossible got its name 'cuz people thought it was, of course, impossible. |

I'll get you all some proof next time I ride. I know it seems impossible, but belive me, its not. Becasue the nose of the board ride above the water, you can push it down, which causes the water to pop it up. I can't nollie very high, but I can get the board out of the water. Oh, byt, the water is the same in Miami as it is in Orlando, so its not the water. |

Todd: I don't think nollies would be possible, but I do think nollie shuv its are. Why? because to nollie shuv it, you don't even really have to pop the board. I can do nollie shuv its on my skateboard without popping it at all, it simply slides 180 just a fraction above the ground. This could be done on a wakeskate, it wouldn't pop off the water, just slide 180 on the water. _________________ Terminate high thinking

Then it would not be a nollie shuvit, it would be some wierd fakie pressure shuvit _________________ www.integrity-wake.com

i think wakeskater 42 is a little confused. think about it if you put to much pressure on the nose it is going to be sugmerged and you are gonna go out wee man superman style. the way wakeskater42 describes it it sounds like he is doing a normal ollie with his weight and feet shifted slightly forward. the physics of wakeboarding/wakeskating are completely different from skating. todd has the idea. you kinda forma a ramp in the water by pushing your back foot down and it shoots you in the air. if you shifted your feet forward you could still form that ramp but it is still technically not a nollie. that is what I think you are doin. |

Its not fakie, because your not traveling backwards, all your doing is shuffling up the board into the nollie position.
Try this. Put a skate deck or wakeskate down on your carpet (even a wakeboard minus the bindings will do). Stand on it in your regular stance, then jump and do a shuv it without popping it. The board will spin on the carpet without leaving the ground. Now move into the nollie position and do the same. This could be replicated on a wakeskate, although you would have to be careful not to drive the nose under the water. _________________ Terminate high thinking |

Then it would not be a nollie, the is no vertical rise. Then it would be a pressure shuvit off the nose.
NO NOLLIE, SIMPLE AS THAT A NOLLIE IS A VERICAL POP OFF THE NOSE.
criminally_minded I think what you are saying is easily possible but it is not a nollie in anyway, shape or form. Take the fins off and try it exitingoff one wake _________________ www.integrity-wake.com

Ok then, its a Shuv it from the nollie position if you want to be like that
You're right, there is no nollie, in that the board doesn't leave the water, but it is from the nollie position, so for simplicitys sake, nollie shuv it. Wether or not its 'valid' is a point of debate. _________________ Terminate high thinking |

OK. I know the nollie sounds like a bunch of BS, but its up to you wether you want to believe it. The whole key is the foot place ment. From what I understand about skateboarding, a nollie is where you pop the nose of your board down first, allowing the tail to rise before the nose. A nollie on a wakeskat uses similiar characteristics, and just like all of the physics and metheds used to do an ollie on a skateboard won't carry over on a wakeskate, neither will they on the nollie. If you consider a nollie on a wakeskate a ollie w/ ur feet on the nose of the board, you are part right. BUT, the tail of the board comes into the air before the nose, by which, shows that you have gotten ur pop from you nose, causing a NOLLIE. I hope this helps clearify things a little. About the pros...just because they aren't landing something doesn't mean a trick isn't easy or that it is impossible. They are a lot of wakeskaters that are extremely good w/ different tricks then the pros, who are also behind the sport that aren't sponsored. Ok, let me hear how you all wanna try and prove my friend and I haven't landed nollies, even tho u aren't me. |

CM, what you are describing is the real definition of a shove-it. A shove-it is when you "shove" the board using your nose, and kick the board foward with your back foot, it really is a "pressure" type trick. A nollie shove-it and pop shove-it are almost completley different.
wakeskater42, what you are describing sounds like an ollie by pushing off the center of the board, I want to see this, it sounds cool. BUT it's not a nollie. You have to pop off the nose to nollie. While I'm on my soap box: there is no such thing as half-cab in wakeboarding, It's impossible. Why, cause you can't fakie ollie(switch nollie) a wakeboard or wakeskate _________________ http://www.integrity-wake.com

I don't understand why you people think nollies & fakie ollies are impossible. Just 'cuz you've tried 'em & couldn't do 'em that doesn't mean no one ever will. In fact, popping an ollie off the center of the board sounds even LESS feasible than a nollie.
The skateboarding community acted the same way and look where they're at now. And like I said earlier, the impossible got its name 'cuz skaters thought it would be impossible to get the board to spin on its short axis.
There is truth to wakeboarders not being able to nollie or half cab for the simple reason that they don't get air by popping the tail (or nose in this case). If you're talking about busting off the wake then yes, you can't do a nollie 'cuz you're using the wake to boost you. Out in the flats, that's another story. |

Russian - Your right, dead right, absolutly right on the definition of a shuv-it and a pop-shuv it, and the differences between them, and you have proven my point for me, thanks
This is a nollie shuv-it. I NEVER said it was a nollie POP shuv-it. Think about it.
(Oh, btw, I'm having a hard time believing an actual nollie can be done on a wakeskate, maybe if they give the board HEAPS of rocker so when the nose is stomped it doesn't go under the water, but I doubt this will happen) _________________ Terminate high thinking |

i do think nolies are possible, but right now..no.. but soon they will be, if you can stand on the tip of your board and not go in, theres got to be some way of doing them... and for that i will go try them. _________________ the difference between comedy and tradey. a tradgey; if i cut my finger i will complain and complain. i would go to the er and get it fix and get stiches. . if someone is walking down the street and falls in a sewer and dies, thats comedy. |
