I play both bass and eletric...
my Bass rig is a Ibanez BTB400 bass with Active pickups playing through a Gallien Krueger 700RB head with a Hartke 115 cabnet and a Hartke 210XL cabinet.
my Guitar rig is a custom shop Strat with Lace Sensor pickups, oiled neck (not laquer), Line 6 Pod Pro and both a Marshall JCM600 Tube amp and a old 1957 Fender Blackface amp.

I play acoustic, every now and then. Been playing off and on since I was a kid, so I just know basic stuff.

I've posted this already in a similar post, but here goes.
I have 2 custom made basses, one is my main axe the other is a tenor predominantly for solos. I have a Cort 5 string fretless, an Ibanez 6-string, and a Rob Allen 5-string acoustic.
I have a Yorkville 4x10 cab powered by a Yorkville 400 watt head.

| My brother and I play. I play the bass mostly. I have an Ibanez bass and Ampeg amp. I play through a Peavy processor. My bro has a PRS, a Les Paul, and a Mesa Triple Rectifier amp.

I second Jester's recommendation...
also, Fender non-Squier Jazz basses are pretty nice too...
it really depends on your bass tone too... if you're looking for something more "dead-thud type sounding", the Fender Jazz basses are great... if you're looking for more of a funk, live sound, the ibanez's make really good sounds...

My buddy Nima has an full on upright base. He plays in a rock a' billy band so it's perfect.

| Upright is the one manifestation of bass that has conquered me. I can play fretless alright, but upright I can't do to save my life. Maybe if I make a lotta money I'll get some lessons.

| Any of the Soundgear series are good Ibanez, that's what model my 6-string is. I like the sound of the BTB series, but they might be a bit pricey for you at this point. Basically just do the guitar shop hop & try all of 'em out, figure out which one you like best.

If anyone is planning to go to the World WakeSurfing Championships Take your axe, there’s going to be a jam session Thursday or Friday. Should be a blast. Oh and if you don’t want to drag your stuff around I think I can find something for you to play I may have a guitar or bass hanging around!

Duke when do you have time to wakeboard. You got an awsome set up. How many total guitars do you have.
|
Electric guitars / Fender American Strat Plus, Gipson 335, Ibanez 7 string, Schecter Black Hawk, Custom built Tele, Custom built Teak body Washburn, Custom built Carbon headless travel guitar and a 68 Mosrite Ventures model.
Acoustic Guitars / Ovation 76 Balladeer, Ovation 1984 Collectors Series, Epiphone Everly Brothers SQ 180 and a 1950 Hohner 12 string setup for Hawaiian slack key.
Bass Guitars / Cort Precision, Ironwood Custom 4 and a cheap Rogue 4 string that I got from Musician’s Friend that plays like a million bucks.
Amps / 68 Fender Twin, Peavey Back Stage Plus use it to preamp, Peavey TKO bass, 1970 Barcus-Berry model 1600 power amp and a Crate G-120C as a back up. I’m a little worried about the Twin need to find a good replacement. I really like the Fender Hot Rod DeVille with 4/10’s, probably my next purchase. Anyone have experience with it?
Drums / Tama RockStar 5 piece with Sabian cymbals
P.A. and Recording equipment / Too much to list!, Along with a bunch of other stringed things and percussions to dink on.
When I get board, getting a new axe makes me want to keep playing and it’s nice to have a selection to choose from. It doesn’t matter if it’s a cheap ass guitar or a $10,000 guitar it’s fun to play something different each time, and it’s funny but sometime the cheap ass stuff plays way better. I don’t think I will ever have enough guitars and stuff. I think I’m going to need a bigger house.
