|
|
A friend of mine slipped getting on the boat the other day and grabbed my plexi-glass windshield and busted it (cracked) right off. Any ideas on where I can get a 4' x 10' piece? |

Are you sure it is plexiglass? I know most boats use tempered glass? |

Yeah I've checked with a couple local places and they'll have to special order one! They are trying to get away with murder though for a price, just curious if there were any cheaper places out there.
~ And no it's not tempered glass ~ |

You might want to see how much it costs for the entire sheet. I know when I went to buy some for a different project, I needed a 4'x7' sheet. They wanted like $130 bucks for it. If I bought the entire sheet (4'x8') it was only $100!!!

There is a place in Dallas I can get it. What thickness? In fact, they can custom cut it using laser cutters. Otherwise it's a PIA to cut yourself.
Is it really "plexiglass" (acrylic) or would you want to upgrade to Lexan (polycarbonate)?
Lexan runs about 35% more, and will be significantly more break resistant than acrylic. Lexan is the stuff you see in all the 7-11's...bullet proof! _________________ Visit my DIY Projects

Insurance is covering a good portion of it, so I'm going to order through Malibu direct! They still carry windshields for 1996 Malibu Tantrums, believe it or not!
Thanks for all the input and suggestions. |
