With Colorado City back in the news...

Should Polygamy be legal? Is there anyone hurt by this philosophy?

I was curious. A local talk show host is against polygamy, yet for homosexual marriage.

Seemed odd to me. Aren't they all "consenting adults"?

My only problem with Polygamy is that they start recruiting the stable when the chick is only 14-15.

They interviewed a guy and his 8 wives on the discovery channel ranging from like 18-35. Pretty interesting, the ladies alternated sleeping with him every night. A couple of them did state that they always made sure that on their night that they did the best they could in the sack fearing that they might be removed from the house.

That almost sounds like my Perfect Place.

Being an ugly guy, Im highly against it. See, there is system in place that allows for us ugly/poor folks to get a break and occasionally do better than we should. Polygamy upsets this balance. The natural inclination to construct a harem, with genetic superiority and money, destroy this balance and narrows the gene pool. We would all go extinct!!

Harems would consolidate over time with those preferring money and those preferring looks separating out until there is only 2 giant families. Then everyone we meet would either have the last name of Gates or Pitt. humanity as we know it would cease to exist!!!

I guess legally and technically the only one that would be hurt is the IRS so I can almost guarantee it it will never be legal. I'd line them up just for the tax break...I've thought about becoming a priest for the same reason... he he he...

Slightly off topic, but the whole IRS/ income tax argument would be void if we abolished the IRS and adopted the Fair Tax. If you don't know anything about it, find out about it. It's very important and would be great for our country.

Yeah, I don't know that I would necessarily want more than one wife. Well, maybe 2. Should the government tell us how many wives we can have, though? Really, it is the same issue as gay marriage. The Christians think that marriage is a Christian thing and therefore believe that it must be between one man and one woman. Christian marriage and legal marriage should be considered (and legally, it is) to be two separate things.

Keep in mind that women who live in close quarters tend to start getting their "cycles" in sync. - So... If a guy wants 10 wives, he better be prepared to be out of the house for 10-14 days per month or meet the wrath of the PMSing wives. Also, no more than the average married person's tax break.

My personal view is don't get married at all - but have a kid or two - then you get the head of household deduction... Wink

I drove through St. George, UT on Thursday and Sunday last weekend, stopping at Costco both times for gas. I must say, if you're a 60 year old man with a 18 year old wife and a 47 year old wife, you're jacked.

If the 18 year old was hot it would be different story, but these girls had all got more than just hit with the ugly stick.....

It's amazing seeing a whole group of women with one man walking through costco looking like they're pilgrims.

Well lets see if i can shed some light on this!! As i live less then an hour from Colorado City and being in the construction industry you cannot help but be involved with them!! here is my .02 cents

First of all i build approximatly 75 homes a year, and without the pligs (as we call them) im not sure what i would do!! My framing contractors are pligs and i have to say those are the hardest working suckers on the planet, Here is the typical crew,

2 adults probably 25-30 yrs old, 3 14-18 yr old kids and sometimes teh occasional 13-14 yr old!! They only go to school until 8th grade then they go out and work in pretty much every aspect of construction in southern utah. They are 100 percent honest, hardworking yet somewhat quiet guys. I have spent several hours a day 5 days a week around them and i have to say although i dont agree with them recruiting 15 yr olds as brides they are a very happy people and great to work with.

They show up at 7:00 in the morning, after a 1 hour drive. then work until 7:00 pm, the funny thing is they can outframe with 2 guys and 3 kids any other crew i have tried by at least double. When they go to pick up a peice of lumber they are nearly in a sprint!! they never take breaks, except for lunch, and are as high quality craftsman as i have come acrossed.

The bottom line is, its easy to talk crap on them for the way they dress or act. but if you knew any of them you would find they are really cool guys. I never have to worry about them stealing or anything like that and they out perform any other contractors around.

It kind of sucks that they take such youg girsl and give them to 80 yr old men, but for the most part i think that both the men and women are very happy. For one they dont know any different, they dont watch TV or have the internet, or listen to the radio so for them it is as normal as can be!!

And like has been said before, if you saw there girls you woulndt think its all that! Trust me these arnt girls out of playboy!! I gues they make up for quailty with quantity!!!
