Last weeks episode of "Trucks" on Spike showed him whipping up a batch of Bio-Diesel from Waste Vegetable Oil, a little methanal and some lye. Had a whole setup on a skid with a couple reaction vessels and pumps. It was pretty cool, he claimed it cost about 70 cents a gallon to make and he put it straight into thye tank of a 00 Dodge Cummins. I started googling and found a ton of sites on how to make your own equipment. I can tell you that if I had a diesel, even a car, I would whip out probably 60 gallons a month at a minimum. It looked like it would be easy but I'm semi lazy in that aspect and I would rather spend my weekend on the water that hauling used vegetable oil from a chinese restaurant..

If you guys are interested in making your own fuel, then www.fieldlines.com is the place to be.

Just remember, until you pay taxes on it it's illegal and if you get caught, I think it's like $10,000 fine. Wink

I havent actually seen anywhere that states that it is illegal to use bio-diesel. In fact some states have been giving people that did a Straight vegetable oil conversion on thier diesels a partial reimbursement for the price of the kit.

It is illegal to use The agricultural "red" diesel on the roads because it is still a petroleum based product that is sold without taxes for farm use.

Sorry Chavez dont want to hijack your thread Whiteboy Razz
