Ok, I've read most of the how to threads on Tantrums but I have a couple of questions still.

I'm really comfortable doing backflips on the tramp now and I want to try one on the water.

Line length, should I go shorter? or I've read and been told to cut hard and carry lots of speed and flatten out at the wake. Is it easier to get the motion down if I only try it doing one wake and landing before the other wake?

What about cutting into the wake and then letting go of the rope the first time and trying to huck a back flip? I'm just wondering if holding on to the rope the first time will mess me up as I'm not used to holding on to something when doing backflips on the tramp.

I'm a big old chicken, so I'm just wondering the best way to get over the whole mental block thing. I'm hoping to try one tonight.

thanks

It's a piece of cake if you just come at it strong. Learn it right the first time... don't go shortening the rope or trying it half hearted. This is a trick that you just have to go balls to the walls on until you get it right. Once you hit it... It's like riding a bike... The motion and timing become second nature.

I'm not saying it's impossible to hurt your self but... I never took a bad fall while learning this trick. If you come up short the most that will happen is getting an eyelid full of water because your face will come down in the trough, doesn’t hurt other than the water under the lid. If you over rotate… the board will take most of the punishment for you. In other words it’s not a trick that you’re likely to take a header on. Don't be afraid of it just huck it and you will see, it's nothing to be afraid of.
Keep trying till you land it. One right after another again and again and again. You'll hit it sooner than later.
