how the hell do people still believe these chain email hoaxes and send them
on without any thought?
You would think by now they would figure it out.

I have to deal with that nonsense all the time at work. The #1 way to propagate a virus or a hoax is to forward it to EVERYONE you know, in turn telling them to forward it to EVERYONE they know. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. Rolling Eyes

Nothing beats the AOL.exe hoax, some dude started a mass email that said to do a search on your computer and delete a very threatening virus called AOL.exe. Not to sound mean, but the rule is if you use AOL, you probably don't know what you are doing on a computer, so thousands upon thousands of people deleted the AOL executable without question. It was reported that the AOL call center was absolutely flooded with calls, good times!

No, but this one is real...I know a person who heard it from their friend that knows someone that talked to Bill Gates. He really is going to pay everyone a million dollars to test his new email tracking program!

Now if I could just get those same stupid people to send me $1 I'd be rich.

Dude, Bill... I think I have that same friend of my friend's cousin who is dating this guy and his sisters boyfriend knows Bill Gates. They said that it true and it's his own money, not money that is set aside for marketing. So, I sent the email to everyone in my work address book and personal address book, twice. I can't wait, I using the money to buy a new VLX.

I got one today saying that a little girl with cancer will only get her 10c if I forward it on to every person I know, because there is an email 'tracker' which knows that I have.

I wrote back saying FU*K THE LITTLE GIRL, and I now refuse to speak to the co-worker who sent me it (didn't like her anyway) because this obviously shows her lack of intelligence.
