i was wondering if people psyke themselves out on the water when wanting to do a new trick. like, you can picture it all in your mind and have it perfect and what you need to do, hit the water, and the mess it up big time?
because i sure as hell do |

| when I'm trying new tricks, I come into the wake, but stop at the wake, and picture myself hitting the wake. I try to put my hands and arms in the position I need to do the trick. Like the other day I was gonna try grabbed scarecrows, so when I got close to the wake, I would let go with my hand, and act like I was grabbing the board, just trying to get familiar with how the trick will feel. |

I use this alot in other sportz, Mind over matter. Dont think about it, Just do it cuz if you do think about it you will "PHSYKE" yourself out. What works for me is trick yourself in saying you have done this trick manytimes..and you know how to do it.
Peace

I'm doing that right now with 3's and backrolls. I edge into the wake and then I just stop edging and quit and don't get air or anything. I do it alot and I have to get myself past that barrier that most of the time crashing doesn't hurt. _________________ Charge It

| i dont think this works for all tricks- but it's kind of a different approach. Just slow the boat down as much as you can, but are still able to get a wake to jump off of and then do the trick. That way, the learning falls aren't so bad. This is how i learned ts brolls- and it worked out well. I think it might work well with certain other tricks. Just make sure you don't form bad habits. |

| yea, I do the same thing as tWaker2. It works well. I just cant get the courage to try backrolls. Like I come into the wake thinking Ill do it but I just wont throw it. You just gotta huck it I guess. |

Without a doubt. Seems like my first attempt on any new trick is always my best. Come to the realization it's because I'm not thinking about what I'm trying to do, I just go out and do it. Perfect example, this past weekend I was working on BS 180. First attempt: nail it. Rest of the day: nothing.
Maybe I should put a Nike sticker on my board to remind me to stop thinking and "Just Do It". |

| yeah i always slow the boat down a bunch when im trying a new trick, just to get the feel for it. i mean, i never actually expect to land it, but you gotta figure out how your gonna leave the wake before you try it going 21 mph. |

wearing a helmet boosts my confidence when i snowboard i feel like im wearing body armor and i cant get hurt. I'm trying that this week on my wakeboard and hopefully trying my backroll again, a tantrum, and a hs fs 3. Hopefully i get the same feeling on my wakeboard with a helmet that i do on a snowboard. _________________ money doesnt buy happiness...they should end that phrase with (just kidding) |

buckshot, Same here, first attempt is usually the closest if not landed.
BS 180 are harder than they look, that's why they are my favorite trick. I rode with a cat that could lay it down, he had a HUGE bag O tricks compared to me (if you are counting inverts alone)... but, he was most impressed with my HS BS 180's, cuz I land them wrapped and he couldn't spin anything blind.... sure enough the next time we rode he had one crammed into his run and is getting better at them each time.
Riding with different people opens up some eyes and makes you think of things a little different. _________________ PEACE

| my biggest thing is thinking to much about doing the trick, when im learning a new invert my best attempts are the first ones because after ive been trying it a few times i start thinking too much about it. |

like they've been saying, don't think about it so much. atleast not the first time. the first time go up there and do what you think you need to do. then when you get a face full of water you'll start to realize what you did wrong, and it's a better starting point than trying to think up everything you need to do right. _________________ is everybody on the boat readily accesible? |

With any new trick you should try getting used to the feeling on the tramp if thats an option then invision yourself landing the trick then go out get the feel for it and then do it _________________ www.soswakeboard.com

| I can have the whole trick planned out in my head, but once I get out on the water, it's like I get a total mindblock and can't do anything. |
