If you are going to do the whole boat and in gelcoat (not auto paint). The price can get up there, there is alot of labor and materials involved, 6,000.00 would be on the low side. Shop around some ,you may find a good deal, see if you can see some of there past work.

The hull on my '92 Malibu blistered from being in the water too much. I was told $3,000 to strip and repair just below the water line.

Did you think about wetsanding it? I am planning on doing it to mine when I get a free weekend and I don't want to go wakeboarding, aka January.

Post a pic of it so we can see how bad it is.

Have you considered having it shot with a really high end paint? I think you'd be impressed with the look and value. How much do you want to put in a 12 year old boat.

It's really not that bad. There is a spot where the previous owner hit a small rock or something on the side of the boat because there is a few little nicks on the side, not very big maybe an inch or two. There is just little nicks here and there on the boat, not too bad but it would be nice to make it shine again. I'll post some pics tomorrow... can you post pics w/out a digital camera? I have a scanner, will that work? Thanks.

If you just have a few nicks and scratches any decent glass person can fix those pretty quick for not much $$$. Some polishing compound, wax and a lot of sweat will bring a gelcoat back even if it's been let go pretty bad.

My boat is a 1995 that I bought in Florida and pulled back here to Georgia. It had major corrosion, an limping engine, dead guages, lots of dock dings, etc, etc, but it was the hull I wanted and a deal I could not pass up. Lots of sweat, a little help from the friends and not to much money (except the new motor) and it is back to being a great boat. If your like me and like your ride, and cant afford what you really want then invest the time in what you got.

I'd ride behind that anytime. I'd ride behind your boat too.

you are talking serious money to re gelcoat. has it blistered from osmosis? core mat showing threw the gelcoat? post some closups.

if it is just faded chalky funk, you can just fill the nicks and wet sand.
