I used to fly Huey's for the Army back in 92.
I've looked at that video 6 -10 times and still cant figure out what went wrong mechanically but it looks like hydrostatic lock (feed back in the hydrolic control valves). If it was hydrostatic lock / cyclic hardover he is very very lucky to be alive. It would take about 300lbs ++ of force (feet on the dash using both hands)to move the controls on a huey
Or he wasnt a pilot, went out for a joy ride and bit off more then he could chew.

| kennethl, i'd only be in a heli w/o power if the plane was a jet or a twin engine plane. if it was like a cessna 182, like ours, then plane definitely. with proper training you can easily gyro the rotor and land safely. |
