You just have to trust that the water is under you. I hold on with both hands all the way through the trick. Keep your eyes open and when you see the tree tops, you know your about to land. You have to know where you are in the invert on this trick, just hold on watch out for your knees, this trick can really do some damage on the knees.

I just have a lil question on doing the HS front flip. Like as im hitting the wake what do i need to try to do with my body to keep from landing on my head or something. should i try pulling my arms in a lil bit to start the flip or what? im a novice at this and this will be my second year wakeboarding but im pretty much teaching myself as i go. any help much appreciated.

I come in hard, hit the wake then put my ear to my leading shoulder, I drop my shoulder a little to start the rotation and pull the rope to my waist. I usually have a lot of line tension, so my arms get pulled back out, but I think thats becasue I'm cutting so hard. Just hold on tight and bend your knees to brace for the landing.

how much should the board i use matter on how easy tricks are, because the board i use is kinda slim and gotta kinda pointed nose. i think thats probably my main problem huh.

I've rode other boards, and I never really have any problems throwing my set down. I can adapt extremely easy tho, so for some people it might be hard. And thats not saying I'm better than other people who have problems with that, it's just that I have ridden lots of different boards and can adjust my riding style very easily.

quick question about the knees, when done properly the landing looks pretty smooth, or am I wrong? is the danger from landing stiff legged with the knees locked? seems like it would be, will be starting to try this trick pretty soon

thanx

if you dont give with the legs your board will find it harder to find its edge and you will slide out, plus you will put a lot of shock through the knees leading to injury

I think the danger comes from landing stiff legged and flat on the board. If you land it with your knees bent, and the tail of the board pointed down a little, kinda at an angle, the landings are no problem. Once I took this trick much bigger than I expected and over rotated a little and I think my knee was kinda straight, I was lucky and didn't do any damage, but man I felt the impact and it scared me. I actually fell, and when I was sitting there waiting for the boat, I was bending my knees to make sure they were still working. Another time a couple years ago when I prolly shouldn't have been trying this trick, I under rotated, and the board was at about a 90 degree angle to the water (tail pointed towards the water), well when it hit the water, the board flattened out of course, and bent my right knee way to far. Again, I was lucky and didn't actually tear any ligaments, but I did get an mri and the lady said the ligaments are stretched out more than she had ever seen and it would take about 6 weeks for them to heal, but no surgery was needed. So, in conclusion, injuries could come from over rotating, or under rotating so guys, be careful when trying this cause it can be a knee killer.
