I've also been wondering about this. I can ollie a little bit, maybe 8 inches or so off the water, but after I've been on more than one or two runs, my leg just quits and I can barely do it at all. Is it there a trick to the technique or am I just a wuss? |

Try cutting out hard heelside and then backing off quickly.. then you'll be off edge with no tension in the rope and you board will still have some speed... I find that thats where I can do the biggiest ollies... Basically you just gotta bend your knees and push off.. you push a little harder off the back and pull the front foot up a little, pretty much a feel thing... play with it -- try trying to grab the board indy, i can do that off an ollie and do a 90 degree shifty facing the boat and back.. dunno might help.. like I said -- play with it
oh and for your 180s learn to do surface 180s both ways first and make sure you can ride switch... then just ollie and pull the handle to your back hip... the rest is natural _________________ Riding

| just cut out to the flats heel side to get speed, switch all your weight to the back foot and lift your front. you'll get it, and 8 inches 'll be plenty once you get the rotation down. just watch out for catching an edge... |

| i think of it as more of a rocking motion. rock forward onto your front foot, then quickly rock onto your back foot. it's a weight shift that gives you pop. |

sometimes i can pop my 180's high enough to get over no-wake-zone boeys, so heres some tips that may help you. im not exactly sure how i learned to do them, i just kinda did.
this is before i ollie:
1. i cut out hs (if your goofy cut out to the skiers right of the boat, if regular, cut out to skiers left of the boat)
2. get out there pretty far, and keep cutting out until you are ready to ollie.
3. transfer your weight and just ride flatbased for a second
4. I bounce my body a little bit, and the second i come down, i pop it as high as i can. pretty much what thats doing is creating a little bit of bounce and repetition for your second ollie, the "high one".
pretty much what he said is correct also^^^. you gotta give the board a little tiny ollie to begin with, and then when it lands, land with a bit more weight on your front foot, then quickly shift that to your back foot, then spring up your back leg and pull up your front leg..
ps. you shold hav some line tension for this, but not alot |

Yeah for really big ollies it helps to come up a little and then sorta 'slap' the water with your board and its nice and firm so you have more to push off.. _________________ Riding

This is kinda weird. I can do w2ws both ways and 180s with grabs and BS 180s and a HS 360 but couldnt do an ollie 180 till last week. I decided after catching my front edge at 22 mph while getting from goofy to regular on a TS 180 that Id better learn an ollie 180. I got the regular to switch ollie 180 fine but the half cab ollie 180 feels so weird. I guess its because I cant ollie well switch. Its kind like a nose manual pivot. Do I just need to Ollie higher or am I leaning some odd direction? |

I ollie just like on my skateboard. I pop down with my back foot and start to lift with my front foot. This pops you off of the water. It helpas to go a little faster than normal too. It makes the water harder under your feet. The 180 part is really pretty easy. It took a day to learn the 180 part./ _________________ Cybernetic Ghost-I am the ghost of Christmas Past and I will tell you what Christmas was like
