Yo whatup from New Mexico!! -the land of 3 or 4 lakes. I went wakeboarding for the 2nd time ever this past weekend and finally got comfortable, got up out of the water, and got used to carving back and forth inside of the wake. The problem is anything outside of the wake is extremely choppy due to fairly high winds (which are a constant on our lake). SHould I be able to ride on this choppy water easily and am I making this into something it isn't? ANyways, another deal is that I always seemed to grab the rope with one hand only becuase it was more comfortable then twisting my body sideways the whole time. Or maybe Im just a former drug addict who is way bad outta shape. BUT I love this wakeboarding stuff, and am looking forward to learning how not to spaz out right as I hit the wake and watch the board slide right out from under me and land flat on my back. Im using a Hyperlite Motive 144 which my parentals bought at a boat store, it seems kinda big but I have no idea, so what do I know, ANywho Talk to yalls lata _________________ Finally off drugs |

OK first of all chop is a big deal. Find somewhere more protected. NO ONE can ride in chop. How much do you weigh? It may be too big for you.

SO yeah, it's a little big. A 140 would be more your size. IT doesn't sound like a lot but it will make a difference.

Wakeboarding in choppy waters isn't easy but if it's all you got then roll with it. Before I bought a boat I would take whatever pull I could get. In New Mexico you should be able to find some wind protection. Find out which way the wind is blowing and drive into the wind until you find smooth water. There's got to be a shoreline somewhere around there with protection.
The 144 might be a little big but not too big to where you would need to buy a new board.
Put your other hand back on the handle and work on twisting at your waist. That way you can lean back on the rope and it requires much less effort. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |
