Ok im gonna try to be brief. I started wakeboarding when I was maybe 12-13 around there. My mom didnt see the need to spend $300 on a board for something that I might not even like. Anyways she bought me an Obrien freestyle with sandal bindings. I havent wakeboarded in the last two years until a couple weeks ago. My girlfriend learned how to board from Dean Lavelle in Crystal Lake, and she wanted to go boarding so I naturally took the opportunity. I was suprised to see I could still do it, riding her hyperlite was amazing. So I took out the Obrien two times in the last two weeks and this thing sucks, I can wake to wake it real easy, just cant stay in the bindings. Riding her board made me anxious to ride again. I just finished my last season of Hockey, turning 19 in august, and want to use boarding as my workout. Heres the point, I bought from ebay a LF Search 143 w/ flite bidings not even thinking, just looking at prices and such. Only problem is I just found this forum today, Im 5'8" 140lbs. From reading stuff on here this board is for some guy thats like 250lbs. Is this gonna effect my riding a lot, or since Im not a pro it wont make a difference. Im on a lot of car forums and it didnt occur to me that there must be a wakeboard forum until today. Anyways, its supposed to get here wednesday and im gonna take it riding to see what its like.
Cliff Notes- Bought a 143cm board, im 5'8" 140lbs, dont know what to do. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/wannabess

You're a little light for a 143 - but don't sweat not being 200 #'s plus. I'm 170, and I ride a 143 (Biolite) - I don't get huge air, but I get way stupid distance, and the bigger board helps me land my not so graceful landings
I would suggest whichever foot you have in the back, have it all the way out
Then adjust the front foot in for comfortable distance. This will help you track, and carve a little easier, cuz you're riding the board back (which also can develope bad habits)
It's popular to "duck" the binding out, you might find it helps you stay on edge to not duck out your back foot, and if you can, move you heal as close to the edge as you can
Both the suggestions are to compensate you being on a bigger board.
The bottom line, if you're not having fun - sell it and get something you like. Seek out a place to demo, or beg, borrow or steal rides on other boards |

Thanks for the reply, makes me feel a lil better. Yea i was doing that test where you jump up in the air and just let your feet land natural, and mine are a lil ducked out to start with . Either way it will still be an improvement over the old board. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/wannabess
