Hey everyone. I know that there are some posts on this topic already, but i thought that i would be more general. This is going to be for people to learn some good dry-land training tips. First of all, check out this site:
http://www.wakeworld.com/articles/2005/WakeboardingWorkout2.asp
As well, there was a good article in the latest WaterSki Magazine about balance and stuff. Here it is:
it basically had 3 exercises
1) Swiss Ball
Begin by getting into the push-up position on a stability ball, with your shins on the ball. Keep your stomach tight and spine flat, with no arch. Bring your knees to your chest, then extend your legs back. Do not allow your back to arch-- this will make sure that the exercise is focused on your core and abdominal muscles. Once you have mastered this, progress to the hanging version. Pull your knees up to your chest, but this time combine a hip rotation. This works great for those tryin Pete Roses and will increase your abdominal strength and agility.
2) BOSU Ball Training
Standing on a Bosu Ball with knees slightly bent, put both arms directly out in front of you. move one are in a clock-wise rotation. make sure to watch your hand as it rotates. This will force you to make constant adjustments in balance that will eventually translate to the water. This is really good for off-axis spins.
3) Indo Board Pro
This exercise is mainly for slider balance. check out indoboard.com to see the board. Initially, i just tried out different things on this board. It will just help to increase your balance and core. Start off by maintaining static holds. Up to 5 minutes is awesome, if you can hold it for that long. Then work into dynamic training; i.e. rocking back and forth on the roller. Extend your weight to one side, then transfer back to the opposite side.
Please feel free to give me input on better technique or totally new exercises. Hope this gets everyone started! _________________ Strike another match, gonna start a new!! |

| this will cut out of actually riding time, and sounds stoopid....but give 15ft of rope, and wakeskate at 13-15 mph..it works your quads, and jsut basically gets you conditioned. |
