After adding a second battery and isolator relay switch, my stereo whines when under power. The faster you go, the worse it gets. I am almost sure it has something to do with the alternator as it has no whine when the engine is off.

hmmm if the only thing you added was the battery and switch it has to do something with one of those two things. I would say unplugg the battery or switch and see if it still does it. Start trouble shooting from there. Never heard of that in a boat before. It's deffinatly coming from the alternator. _________________

Where are you grounding your stereo, and you amps to? You should ground everything directly to the battery. If you run your ground from your deck straight to the battery, the whine will probably go away. _________________ Hot Women, Phat Boats, and Sweet Rides make the world go round! |

Are you running an amplifier for the speakers, or are they directly hooked up to the headunit. Did you run any new power wires near your amplifier or speaker cables. Also check your RCA's, if you're not using a set of RCA's and the contact is touching something ground related or power related, the RCA could give off the whine sound through your speakers. |

make sure that your power and RCA cables are not crossed. If they have to cross to make the amp work, cross them at a 90 degree angle |

I have the speakers going into the amps and the amps going to the head unit.
The whine is definitely coming from the alternator cause I can turn the blower off and change the pitch of the whine or make it completely go away. It only happens sometimes. _________________ Life is a series of ups and downs, separated by no-wake signs. |

I've heard it could be less than perfect spark plug wires. If the ones you have are stock and/or older, you might try new after-market wires -- shouldn't cost too much. _________________ Get There... |
