it's okay to drink on the boat as long as the driver is still under the legal limit. If the driver blows over the limit, they treat it like a DUI in a car....
Passengers are all okay to have open containers. |

In Ontario laws are strict. Legal limit is 80 mg/100 mL. No booze or empties while running. Anyone ! Must be anchored and considered a residence with permanent cooking and head facilities... IE no porta potties and hibachi's. The big lakes tend to be patrolled for booze infractions, not enough PFD's etc.
In Quebec at our lake I've never seen a police officer but the game wardens will fine you $$$ if you fish without a license or don't have a tag for that extra moose in the back |

| A beer or two can loosen you up a bit while on your board (IMO). Any more than that and your asking for an injury. A friend of mine broke his foot while hittin a 360 when he about was about 10 beers deep. He had to sit out the last 2 months of last summer due to that little incident. |

If you absolutely must litter your lake, then make sure you drink cans and when finished, crush the middle and tear a hole in the side and it will sink quickly.
Not the best way to dispose I must say but if you are worried about getting caught with a buch of empty beer cans in your boat then thats the best way. _________________ Holly Bay All The Way! |

That's the most effed up thing I've heard. I'd rather get caught then be dumping aluminum all over the lake. Everyone has to do their part.
But then again, I'm the type of person who gets pissed when I see cig. smokers drop their butts out the windows of their cars. That's why cars have ASH TRAYS. Every piece of trash should end up in a trash can. _________________ http://www.airtimewatersports.com

Here in TX it is the same as kDub said. My mom works for a County Attourney though and she told me if you get a DUI on the boat and don't take the Boaters Safety class they make you take then they will REAM you with a bunch more fines and crap. _________________ pain heals, chicks dig scars, glory lasts forever |

chipsevila, I think you board sometimes in NC, right? Well if you do correct me if I'm wrong. In NC lakes you can have an open / empty container, even with the boat in motion. As long as you are not boarding intoxicated or the driver is not intoxicated you are good to go. _________________ "You ain't drunker'n me"

79nawteak, sure thing. I'm pretty sure only the driver must be sober. But still, there's no sense in ditching cans. With all the ample storage on a boat, there's plenty of places to hide things.
Are there places where no alcohol containers are allowed to be on the boats? I guess I can understand the fear of getting caught, but does that mean that every time you go out, there's can ditching? Even still, I don't see the need to drop cans in the water.
I'll back down though, cuz this is a california thread, and I got no parts in that! Never even been there! _________________ http://www.airtimewatersports.com

chipsevila,
Your thoughts on throwing trash over the side of the boat is spot on. It's senseless. Why anyone would do it thinking that is a reasonable thing to do is beyond me. If the patrol has you sighted, they're using binocs and know exactly what you're doing anyway. _________________ (insert funny chit here) |

Not sure about cali but here in Georgia You can drink and board all you want BUT if they find a reason to stop you (littering, no wake violations, flipping them off, etc...) the normal .08 rule applies. I know because I went out fishing the other day (cold water ) and DNR came over to check for fishing lic's. We were all plastered but they are not allowed to breathalize us cause we weren't doing anything wrong. But if we didn't have lic. or something we could've been nailed.
Plus no one was driving at the moment
And about empty's, if you have a seat that lifts up just toss'm in there. With my luck I would faceplant right on a can and have a funny looking tatoo for a few hours |

It's probably best to call your local enforcement agency and ask for information about this. I called the TWRA (TN Wildlife and Resource Agency) and they were very open about TN laws and enforcement of alcohol laws on the lake. She even warned me that the heat from the sun increases the reading of a breathilizer. _________________ '05 Supra Launch 24SSV |
