So do we have a consensus on the best way to ballast the 21v?

Rear - long 400-600lb sacks that distribute some weight forward by virtue of being longer instead of fat
Locker - 1000lb GG bag
Bow - maybe some lead to balance it all out? (or wakeplate bow down?)

I have definately discovered that weight in the middle makes all the difference. Today we rode with stock ballast, 400lb fat sack sitting on top of the locker, and four adults, one baby. The wake was very nice like this, but using that extra sack is a pain in the ass.

p.s. 21v guys, isn't this boat just tits? As soon as I get it all set up, I'll share some pics.

At the bottom is the quote from goose (Matt Brown from Skiers choice). Also below is the approximate weighting chart for the stock bags in all Supra boats (thanks to Jon). You basically have it right. Order 1 from GG bag and 1 standard 21V locker bag. Put the GG bag in your locker, move the standard bag to one of the rear compartments and then put the other new standard locker bag in the other rear compartment. This will give you 1K up front and roughtly 1300 in the rear. You may need a little lead in the bow to balance it out. The other alternative is to put two 400lb sacs in the back. I am thinking about putting bigger bags in the back of my 24SSV, if I do, I will have two 400lb bags to get rid of.

I will try and clear this up for you guys. The GG front bag and the bag standard in the 24 SSV are the same bag (19x19x88). Barefoot Intl has changed the material and thickness a couple of times over the years to try and make the most durable bag possible, but the bags are the same. To calculate the weight in pounds of a bag multiply the length x width x height x .036. That means the GG front bag if filled to those exact dimensions would hold 1143 lbs. However, we market the bag as 1000 lbs because the bag does not fit that exact rectangular measurement. As Schmo stated and as I have stated before, if you are going to overweight your boat (insert liability warning here) over the factory system, look at the 16x16x70 bags in the back compartments (645 lbs). The 24 comes standard with the 10x16x70 bags in the back (403 lbs) hence the 1800 lb rating. Hope that helps.

Thanks Schmo, I was just looking for that the other day. So, basically, you need to buy one GG bag (or Stock 24V basement bag) and one stock 21V basement bag. Put the stock basement bags in the rear, and put the GG bag in the basement. Anyone priced out buying these two required bags?


Oh yeah, Oneill, the boat is as rad as they come.

Yeah we have been playing around and so far the best we have found was just like everyone has been suggesting:
-the long 600=+lb bags in the two rear compartments
-GG in the locker and then we just sat a person up front
Wake plate down to start and then half way during the ride
SHE IS BIG....my first run I have to say I charged the wake and turned back. I was quite intimidated.
I have a feeling my speedo is off quite a bit cause we have to ride at 25mph to clean it up and it still feels a little slow. I will be taking a handheld GPS out on the next run to calibrate it.
Been wake surfing with locker full and back port side full. Sticking another 450lb bag over there and all the people and wake plate up. Still want to test the surf without the front bag full.
We are totally stoked with this boat. Love it! Keep this thread going with info you all find so we can build on it.

I've also been running very fast to keep it clean pretty far back, which isn't a big deal as I'm used to riding at 24.5 or so....My PP is f'n with me though...getting alot of movement. Where are you guys setting your KDW and NN?

Going out tonight just to get the weight/plate/line length and PP all dialed.

My PP was fluctuating about 1.5 mph and I moved it to about 150 and 100 I want to say and it has been within .5 now which is acceptable. Not sure on those numbers cause I played with them for awhile.... I have been running about 12.5 for surfing too. I really think my speedo is off though cause when I am idling at prob 2-3 mph I am showing 0. Sounds backwards but will have to check with the GPS..
How many hours NAW? How many you expect to put on this year?

NAW, Get some pics of the wake also!
I rode behind a launch the first time this weekend needless to say I was impressed we had 1500 lbs and 5 adults I would love to see what this thing is fully sacked out and a v-drive configuration.

Diggs, I think I have about 10-15 hours. Weather has taken a dump here and was at an in-water boat show/demo with it last weekend. It rec'd alot of attention and probably will spawn some deals. I haven't ridden in like 2 weeks, but weather is nicer starting today...70's. PM me the bag pricing if you remember.

should I just go to my dealer and ask them to order those two sacks individually? What am I going to need to expect to pay?

Been running the same setup in my 21v. The two new sacs from Marty at WBD ran $485 plus tax. Steep but made all of the difference in the wake. I felt the wake was kind of soft before the new weighting and with the extra weight moved forward, it really firmed up and will give you a massive kick up as you hit it. It will make you think twice the first time you charge it hard though... Laughing

So I read the read article on WBM about the 21V http://www.wakeboardingmag.com/pdfs/Supra21_sm.pdf and it says the 21V sweet spot is 60-65' out. We went out two times ago and had the rope at 65' + 5' handle and I was getting launched high and out into the flats. Last time, I went back 5' (70'+5' handle) and was still getting launched, but I totally thought it was not as big this time. Same weight in the boat too. Next time I am going to try coming in some and seeing how it is again. Do you guys have any feedback or what rope lengths have you been running?

I normally ride at 80 and have shortened to 65-70 on this boat. I took my set last night at 65, factory ballast and could really get booted. But, I'm having issues with my PP (I almost tore it out of the dash and threw it into the lake Laughing ) and will be doing some resets and tests tonight to get it dialed. Otherwise, I have noticed the need to shorten and am running about 24 mph (NOT GPS calibrated).

So are you running 65' plus the handle? Total of 70'? I never know if people are talking rope or rope + handle? What is the etiquite (sp?)? It just seems to close, but I guess with the tower being so far back this year it helps in the equation... I will give that a shot again on the next outing

Bummer, riding a rope that short would irritate me, I like long rope lengths for the more floaty & free feel. Currently I ride 83' (incl handle) I haven't ridden shorter than 70 since the I/O days. What happens when you ride @ 80 NAW? Are the wakes to wide, to crusty or just smaller?

The tow point is further back and the wake is a bit wider due to the 98" beam. You can ride it at 80' or more, I just haven't figured out the proper combo of speed, weight, and wakeplate to keep it crisp without it being very wide. Needless to say I have ALOT of experimenting to do this weekend.
This early in the season, I don't mind riding a shorter length though.

I typically ride at 75' total at 23.7mph. That is behind all the Supras/Moombas, 21, 22, 24 and the 2X.

I recieved my sacks from Marty at WBD today. Planning a morning ride tomorrow provided work cooperates. This is going to be one helluva lot of weight in the boat. Will take pics. Thanks fellas!

I ride with the same sac set up that has been mentioned. (2) 600's , (1) 1,000, plus I ride at 75ft and 22mph and the wake is clean. PP settings 180 and 90. . . . . . . Moved the wakeplate from 1/2 to 3/4 this weekend and it gave it more peak. Already learned a new invert behind it so I'm happy!

If there is more weight then there should be in the rear of the 21V, the wake gets wide. If the boat is weighted properly, it actually feels narrower to me than the 22SSV. I normally ride at 75', and could back up another 5 behind the 21V with ease...another 10' behind the 24SSV for that matter.
