What's nice is that it also record 2 seconds before you press the record button. It will help a little bit fo wakeboarding but for those that shoot documentary for exemple on whale and the want to shoot one when it jump out of the water, they juste have to press the record button when the whale will be out of the water and they'll have the full shot.
You can also do a in camera transfert which mean you can only shoot at variable frames rates on the P2 card but you can transfert your P2 footage on a miniDV without any other equipment than the camera itselft.

Provided you have the camcorder framed, focused etc that could be a handy feature. _________________ Rich Dykmans
I hope that you can turn that feature off. most of us already pre roll. And waisting 2 more seconds of precious P2 space will be crappy/annoying
also you are supposed to be able to transfer the data on your P2 card strait to an external hard drive..no computer required...if that is true. that is another sweet function of it.
