At TSR, last time I've been there (Took a 2 week break to study for 2 exams, going back today Very Happy) there was one (15" I believe?) rubber handle and the rest the standard small wooden handles. I hear TSR is going to put a lot more rubber handles in, but the big ones probably.

What are the advantages to the big and small handles? Cause a guy from Europe came by; he was pretty good and preferred the small wooden handles to the bigger rubber handle.

The bigger ones are more like traditional wakeboard handles that you use behind the board, and being longer makes handle passes a little easier. He's probably just really used to the little handles, personally I would prefere the bigger handles, not that it makes much of a difference.

yeah we're switching over to the 15 inch rubber handles now. it doesn't really matter to much to me i got used to the little wooden ones. however the 15 inch does make handle passes a lot easier.

I rode at Rixen and the handles were the wooden ones. My hands were torn up on the bottoms and the sides of my hands where the rope attached to the handle. I would say that the handle was my only complaint.

i ride at Rixen, thats the only place i ride, i have gottin use to the wooden handles, i had too, i have never really ridden with anything else, they are kind of small.....but i thought the purpose of the wooden handles at a cable park was so that in case it got jammed or some how got in the carrier, it would break easily, and not derail the cable, and mess it up, wouldnt the rubber ones be harder and mess up the cable if that happened? or are they the kind that would be all right? Derrick, any answers?

OWC has rubber handles and I don't think they have any problems.

wooden are used for a couple of reason's. the first (and really isn't that important) is when someone falls the rope that will come unattached to the end of the handle can either slip off or slip up so the handle lies parrallel with the hanging rope. this keeps the rope from grabbing the water, geting pulled under and poppin gup in the air. again this really isn't that inportant. however with non spectra rope (most commonly used because you won't generate the same added benifits with spectra as compared to the boat) the sliding of the rope beaks the handle line more often. it slides up and down the handle much easier than wood. pretty much it's a cheaper alternative and it's most common for cables so they use it. the benifits of rubber far exceed wood so that's why places are changing over.

OWC is screwed if they get a handle in the wheel. Some of their handles are metal on the inside with rubber on the outside. With the wood ones you get used to it you dont have a problem with it anymore.
