That looks great. I look forward to seeing the completed box on the tower. I was thinking of doing something similar. You have any step by step stuff or just want to give us a basic idea of what you did?

xscott - Great Job! Did you have that gelcoated or what? I've been working on my fiberglass box for about two weeks. I can't imagine that I'll ever get it as smooth as your's. I framed mine up with marine plywood and I've been putting on the layers of fiberglass, but it looks pretty rough at this point. I hope some filler and sanding will do the trick. Otherwise I've got 50 dollars worth of fiberglass, resin, and wood that will get tossed in the burn barrel. Some pointers would be great.

Sweet Box, I did the same thing you did but for 2 pairs of compressed horns Image Dynamics, I had 3 pairs of the MB Quart 6.5 Q series and these blow them away for out door sound and clearity. Shocked

WOW how's the sound on those IDQs. i tseems putting them out in the open defeats their design? Couldn't you have gotten away with a much smaller box, to save weight. Are there speakers or lights facing forward?

that box is sick? You should make an article for it and see if pat will post it for you... like on the home page. He did that for me and my camera housing

some details would be great, i was plannin on building just a plain old box, but you have changed my mind.

Here are a couple more pics. Yea guys this is not hard, it's tedious. You have to be extremely meticulous and you have to stick with it. This took me a week of solid work. It was all gravy until i got into the paint prepping. The thing that separates the boys from the men are tools. You need a DA sander, no questions asked. Also there is a technique to using this tool that will keep you from eating off your filler so you are taking steps forward instead of backwards. Yes this is paint has a clearcoat. It is an automotive paint made by omni (not a top of the line brand, but still good). In the last coat i mixed in extra hardener for the extra shine and durability. I'll possibly make an article and maybe make one or two for the first who ask. email me (scottconnected@hotmail.com) if you are interested. Also email me with any questions i'd be more than happy to share my experience.

Man i can't believe how sick that looks. My buddy works in car audio and builds boxes like that for peoples cars. He has been doing it for 3 years and your box easily compares to if not better than what my buddy can do. Maybe you should work in the car audio business.

tabiggs-- I cant believe you are getting the Tsunami(judging by the 30' remark), you are the first person I have ever heard of having one. What are you gonna do with that thing besides wakeboard???? It is freaking huge, with the 90 gallon gas tank and cabin, that's insane. The fact that a boat that big has a tower and ballast blows my mind. I assume you arent gonna trailer that thing too much, sounds like a hassle. But i would like to see it all hooked up one day just to see how big it really looks compared to a truck!!!

How much did it cost you to build the box in supplies cost. It only took you a week? And what did you use to make the mold? That is the only thing that has me confused.

That looks like a sick "no sacks needed" boat !!! - My dream wakeboard boat was just displaced by the "real monster" in the wakeboard market.

If either of you post up pics or can do a write up on your speaker box projects shoot me a link at www.diyTower.com - those "artistic expressions" need to be captured for the future !!!
