Hey, I was wondering if there was anything similar to a wake plate available for i/o boats? Thanks _________________

nope. hydrofoils can be mounted to the cavitation plate on the outdrive to help planing and getting out of the hole - well worth 30 bucks in my opinion.

I would say just jimmy rig one of those whale fins that mount on I/O's, or have an aluminum one made. Mount it so the front is leaning forward quite a bit, may have to adjust it later... I'm sure this is going to put a ton of stress on your hydraulic lower unit though, probably not the best idea... I would personally just add weight or get an inboard with a plate on it if you must. |

Ahaha daaaaaamn.. I just found out how these work. So it brings down part of the boat to act as if ballast was in it rather than creating some sort of drag haha sorry.. The whole drag thing was dumb. So if we could get a hydraulic stabalizer fin on the leg of the i/o, we could adjust the trim to do roughly the same thing to bring down the bow of the boat a little bit. _________________

| check these out if you got some extra bucks. http://www.overtons.com/cgi-bin/overtons/order/large.cgi?25554 a friend put these on his boat and no more porpoising and planes out quickly. Or for $50 this workds great. Ive had mine on for about 2 years. The boat planes at 10-12 mph, and no nose bounce. Actually increases size and shape of the wake somewhat. |

Qnev...do you have any sacs in the bow? I run 350#'s in the bow and then another 300 or so in the ski locker. I have to play with the trim a bit to sink the rear but then I get a pretty nice wake for a i/o. Once I get my interior setup I'm gonna add a couple small sacs to either side in the stern to help balance it out. I'm also using one of those hydrofoil attachments on the lower. _________________ A good friend will bail you out of jail. A great friend will sit next to you saying, "man that was cool as f*ck!" |

Hey Rat,
Check into putting MORE weight in the bow than the stern on an i/o...you then "pull" the stern down using your trim...try it...by placing LOTS of weight in the bow and then while running, try to raise the bow with your trim control - this will force the stern down 'cause the bow is heavy...
Inboard boats are almost the opposite as you don't have the ability to "pull" the stern down (maybe Malibu's wedge is similar)

That's what I'm doing now. I just need a couple small sacs for balancing the boat with an odd # of people on board. _________________ A good friend will bail you out of jail. A great friend will sit next to you saying, "man that was cool as f*ck!" |

I found some waterbed tubes on Ebay for this very reason. I got 6 of them for $30. Same hookup as my fat sacs. The ones I have are about 5 ft long, average about 8 inches diameter, hold about 75 lbs of water. They are nice, because they can bend, and double over, and fit into wierd places.
My 19 ft 4.3L I/O runs with a 600 lb fat sac in the bow walkway, about 400 lbs in the ski locker, and occasionally some of the waterbed tubes on one side or another. _________________ Be an organ donor! My father is alive today because of kind souls that donate life... |
