ben8473, its a cover that goes over the edges of your board (hence "edge protector") to prevent it from getting all banged up from moving from place to place , dock dings , etc. I sure need on for my board.

I bought one locally in Dallas for $30 then went to the boat show and haggled with the guy when my friend was buying a vest and he gave us 2 or 3 covers for free.
Check out a local board shop. If you buy a board from them, just negotiate for a free cover.
