|
|
Okay, so I have been occationally wakeboarding for the past 2 summers, but my dad bought a new boat this year, and I bought gear of my own. I'm not quite sure how long of a rope I should use. I bought a cheap Low-stretch 4 section rope (cuz I'm broke).
Can somone easily explain how to judge how long the rope should be? I'm guessing I'll probably use 3 sections of rope because I'm still learning to jump wake-to-wake, but is there an actual scientific way of judging length to the type of wake my boat throws?
Pictures might be helpful.
Thanks. _________________ -Crucial |

First throw away that rope you baught. If the rope stretches ANY then the whole point is lost. A good spectra line can be found on ebay for like $40. You pretty much just blew some cash on that rope man.
When you get better you will want to typically ride as far back as you can before the wake washes out, or where the wake is the biggest. I'd probably go out about 55-60 ft for geting down your w2w's. But even if there was a scientific way of judging legnth to the type of wake your boat throws, how would we know if you didn't say what kind of boat you have... It's all preference. _________________ wakeboards

Thanks for the input. I bought the cheaper Accurate low-stretch rope and handle combo because it was 1/5 of the price of a non-stretch rope and handle and I got a discount on top of that when I bought the board and vest. I had been reading on this forum and other wakeboard sites and everyone seemed to say that it would work fine until I started doing some air tricks, which I'm no where near even trying.
If you really think it will impare my wakeboarding that much by using this rope then I guess I'll take out a second mortgage on my board
