Well, what part of the trick are you having trouble on?
It seems like everyone misses the handle on this trick when they are having troubles.
- If so, wait to spin. Make sure you have released completly off the wake and then you are going to bring the handle to your lower back for the trick. |

Yeah where are you losing it? Heelside frontside o/a 3? Try to release the board up and out, similar to a backroll but not that extreme. You don't want to pop straight off the wake or you will do a normal 3. Send the board off-axis and control the spin. Drop the handle w/ your lead hand as soon as your board releases, look over your lead shoulder and let your hips follow you around, use your head and follow your landing all the way around. The landing should be smooth, also similar to a backroll but much harder b/c you gotta find the handle on the way down. |

ok, well i come in HS and everything is sweet, hit the wake & feel the pop, initate the spin and kick the board out about 45% above horizontal so its nice and phat, hit the handle pass right under my butt when my back is facing the boat. Then the troubles start. I am coming around to quick and landing 540 and dieing in the butt. If i throw a grab in there i rotate 2 slow and almost dont get round in time. I just dont know.
What i was hoping to get was steps how other do it. What is the point of having a OA 540 when i dont have a OA 360 you know what i mean? Besides i need to work on my switch more than i am right now anyway.
Maybe i just need more practice. _________________ -- Spin Dizzy --

i love that you think you should be able to a do a 3 before i 5. everyone needs to take that advice. the way i do it is go in wiht a pretyt mellow cut, my knees bent a little bit more than on something like a backroll. when i hit the wake i concentrate on keeping the handle very low and let the board float up and out (kind of relax my legs). the most trouble everyone seems to have on this trick is the handle pass. you've usually got to do it very late in the trick. you're rotating too much because you're losing control of the position of the handle. keep it close to our lead hig the entired time. you also dont have to throw this trick nearly as hard as a 540. the wake will do the trick for you if you let it. hope that helps _________________ Glass and Powder Boardshop

Also,
Use a progressive edge. Don't come in screaming, then stop and flatten that board before the wake. Remember, you don't have to cut all the way out as far as possible on this trick. As long as you have a solid progressive edge, your all over this trick. |

Cheers doinflipsdavis
got it dialed now
it was all in my handle position
i held it in it took it huge and rotated cleanly
now i have to get that one toe side
also landed my first tantrum to blind!
I think it was definatly easier than a backroll _________________ -- Spin Dizzy --

will grabbing this trick early help you bring it down? I was doing these on the tramp and it seems that grabbing it makes it come back under you much easier, maybe its just because grabbing makes you tuck your knees into your chest. _________________ http://www.wakepics.com/view_single.php?medid=16993 one of few trips i got to make to the lake this year |

well to me it depends on how far off axis i want to go. I can turn it into a backroll if i go to inverted then it is just a handle passed grabed backroll. So i like to keep it between horizontal and plus 45 degrees. To make it a solid OA 3. If i grab it, it does not change my body position or at least it shouldn't i dont think. But i like to grab it with my legs bent as little as possible because i like the way it adds style to the trick. _________________ -- Spin Dizzy --

yeah that is the definately the easiest time to grab the trick. I try to grab it then and let go only when i have to make the pass. _________________ -- Spin Dizzy --

Wow! Thanks for all the good advice. Sorry but iwent for a ts off axis 5, cuz i guess they are easier and came flying in like i was doing a big ts front roll. Hucked the spin really hard , lost the rope immediately, spun to 5 all the way and ate it headfirst like BAM! I'll be sure to use your tips. It was kinda funny my wife was laughing once she knew i was o.k. _________________ Raley cut everything! |

i don't know if anyone os doing off axis spins on the cable but a buddy of mine. jack scanio tried them a couple of times and whole they looked exactly like they do behind the boat he said that he couldn't pull the handle hard enough to finsh it up. i'm sure that they're posible though. |

go off the wake with the same progssive edge as a backroll, but when you start going into backroll rotatino, stop yourself by not lookin UP and over but just over your back shoulder and also stop urself with the handle at 180. then as you come down, pull yourself into the last 180 to bring you to 3. do the o/a 180 on teh way up then bring it down into a 3. _________________ www.liquidforce.com |
