Hi everyone,
I am brand new to this site and this sport! I am ready to buy my first board and would appreciate any suggestions. About me: I am female, 5'6" and about 128 lbs. I can snowboard and am pretty athletic if that matters. Any suggestions. Is there a type of board to get, I know I have seen types such as pro and team boards. I really like the Liquid FOrce Angel 130 or 134 but I am not sure if that is a beginner board.
Thanks for any comments!

Rachel- Welcome to the sport and wakeboarder.com! The Angel will definitely work for a beginner, as it has really positive tracking characteristics, and won't feel loose on the water for you. It is pretty aggressive, though. If you think you'd prefer a more laid-back feel, you might want to look into a board like the Diva or O'Brien Vixen (if you specifically want a women's graphic board). Otherwise, I'd suggest you look into either the Substance 134, Omega 135, or Nemesis 131. If you have quite a bit of snowboarding experience, you'll have no problem with edging technique, so could easily go with a board that would be considered looser on the water than some. Let me know if you have any other ideas about what kind of ride you're looking for, and I'll see if I can narrow it down more. _________________ Mike Dick

well, i know that there are a lot of sites that have some suggestions. You should try to get some magazines, etc. to expose yourself to as many boards as possible. Also, if you have a wakeboarding shop nearby (not a boat selling place those places are usually overpriced and not very good selection) ask if you can demo the board. But i might say to not go with an overly expensive board until you really get into wakeboarding and then you will have the experience of finding your own wakeboard. Have Fun! _________________ show_boy08 |

Hey Rachel
As a female wakeboarder, I have tried everything from angel to liquid force to hyperlite. I do prefer hyperlite. I was riding 136 and just purchased a hyperlite 140, so I can't wait to get out there. But see if you can go to and rent a few different kinds of wakeboards before making the big decision, it took me a good year before I went out and purchased my own and one that I felt comfortable on! |
