The biggest difference in shape will be between 02 & 03. The 03 rides very similarly to the 04. The 05 is also fairly different than the previous years. Personally I like the 05 a ton more than the previous generations. Honestly I don't know if you'll be able to tell a huge difference between the Pltinum & the foam. I ride the foam board & it's really not a huge difference. have fun.

I've heard nothing but good things about this board. I'm actually going to have to buy a new board this summer and this will be the first one I demo. I'm riding a Byerly 142 right now. Can anyone compare the two for me? _________________

The Byerly is a little edgier and has a much more explosive pop. The Absolute has sick pop with its 3 inches of rocker but the Byerly has a more vertical buck, because the flat spot in the 3-stage rocker is longer thus forcing the rocker curve to be in a shorter area. The Transcend is my second favorite ride from CWB, it's a bit slower but has an even bigger pop. Everything is slowed down into the wake & then when you pop off it kicks you very high. It also has smoother landings than the Absolute, but not by much. They are both great rides, try them both on for size, you will not be disappointed.

Stephan The transcend has bigger pop but softer landings? _________________

jryoung, believe it or not, yes!
I'm guessing this is due in part to the lack of a flat spot on the board, but I am sure Stephan will chime in with a better answer than that. _________________

I've ridden the 03, 04 and 05 Abs/Plat and this year's has the best shape to date. It rides more nose high, which allows you to really scoop the wake, thus producing bigger pop and soft landings as well...I like the looser feel of this board fin-less...a must try. _________________ Hey bud....it's my time... |

I think the Transcend also carries more V throughout the shape. This helps it rock on edge with it's width & sink those dual fins. Chavez, you pretty much hit it. I too ride my Absolute finless and it is the funnest ride out there. I'm working on my first video (new to Premiere) I'll let ya guys know when it's up. CWB to the House!!!

wkebrd3, I had a byerly 142 before I got my 03 absolute plat. and will never ride my byerly again. I love the absolute. I ride mine finless as well. Great pop and nice soft landings in the flats.
