I was at the lake this weekend and I tried both tall and seated positions, but neither one really felt right. When I did tall I got too much of the raley feeling and went more out than up and seated just didn't feel right. Also I was wondering what the best edge would be. I have no problem doing HS raley's, but I don't feel comfortable trying them on my toes. I just can't visualize the right way to throw this, can anyone help me out?

you need to really bend your knees on your cut, thats the only way i found that they work. have you done hoochies, or are you going strait for an indy glide, because thats a pretty tough transition. i recommend really trying to tweak an ohh, then try a nuclear glide and then go for the indy glide

An indy glide is more layed out, harder to release into, and verrry hard to pull back down and recover. What about working on non grabbed 911's? Then turn them to one handed 911's. Then grab it indy! That easy right!! Wink

Id think the best edge would be tall w/ a trip flip release to kick you into it. Get too much line tension and you wont pull it back down, and that is going to ring your bell.

Great suggestion. I had 911's dialed for a long time before i tried the indy glide. And make sure you look back on that trick, otherwise you look like you're doing a miserable raley. The main difference between the raley and the 911, for me, was that pushing the handle down, and left (if you're normal, right if you're goofy); this keeps the 911 from turning into a half s-bend to concussion. As the board goes back, give it a nice long look. not too long though.....haha.

As far as the indy glide? Try it off the double up first. !!!!! I know that's typically a joke for most tricks you're learning, but the indy glide is easier with more loft and less speed, which is a hard balance to find on raley-based tricks off of the regular wake. After you do it off the double up a couple times, it's easier to relax and slow down your cut on the regular wake. just an opinion.......

Now for TS raleys, they follow the same principals as the HS raleys. Solid hard cut, stand tall, wait for the pop, and let the board fly back. I typically dont look at the boat like HS raleys, moreso in the general area of the direction that I'm travelling. Let the board fly back all the way, and it will come down just as easily as the HS raley.

hope this helps.

and yes, it is difficult learning all these raleys behind my bass boat.

i learned my indy glide off the double up. I learned it right after i learned a hs blind off three and it was the same take off. I hit the wake the same way i hit it for a font flip more or less and go for the grab early and push the handle down, and it just flows up behind you and back down like a raley. Its super easy off a double up because the double up will push the board right behind you and straight up.

Watch "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom." Indy goes hang-gliding. There's your answer, newb.
