alright I'll bite.

A wakeplate is something that looks like this:

It is a plate that is lowered down into the water to add more surface area to the boat. The effect of this is that it pushes the boat higher out of the water. The result of that means that your wake will get a little smaller and less peaky. The benefits of this are largely for slolom skiing or for those who like a more rampy wake instead of a vertical one. It's not really that beneficial for wakeboarders. Its more for people who want to have a boat that will have a good wakeboard and ski wake. It also helps driving across the lake as it pulls your boat higher out of the water (saves gass).

what you really want to get is the Wedge from malibu. its the opposite of a wakeplate. It pulls the boat lower inot the water for a bigger wake

yeah the wake plate does nothing for wakeboarding, but it does come in handy for us when the ballast tanks are full and we wanna zip accross the lake, we just pop that thing down and were off
