When you get the dims send them to me at bill@bierbower.net and I'll post them to www.DIYTOWER.com, which is to share info for people making their own towers & accessories.

Please document your project as much as you can so you can share what you did with others. There's some good links at www.DIYTOWER.com now for hiem joints, base pads and other goodies.

i have 2 1/2 inch tubing which is stainless steel.. do you think this is strong enough? i think skylon and other companies use aluminium, is this for a reason ?

Senate- Aluminum is a easier to bend than stainless. I'm not an engineer but my Dad's construction company does a lot of steel work. I know some companies use stainless also. Both work fine. 2 1/2 inch tubing is more than strong enough. When I build my tower I plan on using 2 inch aluminum. Stainless is really hard to drill.

2.5" stainless tubing is used on the Titan towers in Australia, so it should be more than up to the job assuming the rest of your design and construction can handle the forces.

There are a lot of structural CAD programs, but they cost big $$ and you need a lot of training to use them.

Why not be original and design your own tower instead of stealing someone elses creation? Of course, I guess that imitation is the best form of flattery.

Yup, got the "love letter" last week. It's just a business thing - nothing personal, I'm sure. We expected it and it was already in our business model.

If you can't beat em, pay to play in their sandbox. I really should take the SAN off my list of dream boats but I'll worry about that when it's in the $$$ cards.

If you don't mind me asking do they have a flat rate for towers or do they charge you per tower....I know that it sucks to have to pay them royalitys, but you have to admit that it was a pretty good idea to copyright the tower....

I better keep my mouth shut, they have big, bad lawyers and I'm a "high tech redneck in the basement". Let's just leave it at I've agreed to their terms. I dont have the time or $$$ for a knock down drag out.

You ever notice all law offices are a bunch of peoples names strung tother. I think they should have a common name - Dewey, Screwum & Howe !!!

They have to pay around 120 per tower. That is about the going rate. I think it is stupid that CC was able to get teh patent. They were not the first to invent towers nor use them on a tournament boat. Seems like a pretty sleezy thing coming form a company that pushes Christian Ethics so much. Borrow someone elses idea and then claim it as your own and make money off it.
