Alright well Ive been riding for some time now but its always been at OWC and we just recently started riding behind a boat (today was my 4th time behind a boat), which I am very stoked about! anyways I am working on some w2w......... and I'm at the point where sometimes it works others it doesn't, I've landed a few 180 w2w but im just not consistent. The people I ride with told me I absorb too much of the wake with my knees instead of "standing" at the wake. Ive been trying to focus on getting it right and I definitively feel the difference when I get one right. My question is would it help if I did kind of a "pump" just b4 hittin the wake.. like when I watch videos often when pay attention you can see the rider kind push his/her weight down just b4 hitting the wake, kind of like a ollie, would that help my problem? If I just pumped the water just b4 the wake or should I just focus on remembering NOT to absorb the shock? |

more than anything, work on a progressive edge. you'll get the most pop by edging hardest thru the wake _________________ "floats like a butterfly, stings like when i pee" |

More than likely your friends mean to say that your letting of your edge before the wake.
most beginers when trying to learn pop start their edge good and gather good speed but try to use their speed to ride up the wake and jump it like a ramp on a skateboard. The unique aspect of wakeboarding is the handle which you use to create leverage, this is where your pop comes from.
Try digging your heels in all the way up the wake and stand tall against the rope by pushing your heels down. Try to concentrate on keeping the handle the same distance from your hips after you pop up. The first few times you'll probably get bucked kinda funny just keep trying till you can keep your axis straight. _________________ Raley cut everything! |
