I'm gonna make my own. I'm just gonna make a template outta cardboard and then put it on some steel(havent decided thickness or whatnot) and then cut it out with a plasma cutter at work then have a bar going accross like to connect the two parts. |

I tried this, I had pracically no resources so I made wood ones, they might work for wall racks but u really need metal and the right tools for a good board rack. To see a pic of mine, check my gallery. |

We built some out of 3/4 pipe with a 1/8 steel plate as the back. 6 pieces of pipe made up the prongs. We arc welded them on, then capped the ends and padded them with foam pipe insulation. The backing plate was padded with some rubber-like floor mat. We used 2 U-bolts to mount them on the tower. We used nylon straps with buckles to hold down the boards. They worked well. Sorry the pic is crappy, but it's the only one I had to use. _________________

Good ideas guys. I like what I see. I am doing work on my friends boat- taking out passenger seats and putting in a long lift-top box. The box will be 6' long and 21" wide and about 14" high. It will be made of plywood (primed/painted), pressure-treated 2x4. The box will be sided with marine carpet (top too actually), and a hand-made mahogony bench-top. We're gonna most likely put something on side of box, and I plan to route a logo or something in the top I'm making. When all is done, we hope to store 2 boards(one with bindings) , extra bindings, tools, battery, vest, rope. All lockable. When the project is finished I'll post some pics. _________________ The horror...... the horror. |
