I am looking for some 6x9 speakers for my tower. I also don't wanna break the bank either. Currently I am looking at some kicker, alpine and rockford fosgate. In your opinion what do you prefer ? Also is it wise ti buy speakers off of ebay. I see most of the ones I am looking at but I am cautious of referbs.

Peace

For speakers I usually buy infiniti, the references can be had for a reasonable price and they still sound great. I have some boston acoustic 6x9's in my truck right now and I am very impressed with them. As for buying stuff on ebay, I do it and have not had any problems thus far.

A friend runs 2 Pioneer 6x9's in custom cans on his tower and you can listen to your tunes of choice at 75'. Wish I knew the model to give you a better idea, but that is all I know and I'm sticking to it.

Oh yea....and they are like 4 years old and running strong....though he has had to have the cans welded to the clamps a few times.

I've been on boats with RF's and Alpines and both sounded great. I don't really remember if the sound quality while wakeboarding was that better on on than the other, but you definitely got plenty of sound out of both (with a good amp).

WakeTech, Polk DB's are excellent, but quite pricey.

Rockford, Alpine, Infinity, they are all great.

I honestly think you could just throw in some Sony Xplods and it will get the job done.

I'm with twitch88 that infinity reference speakers should fit you really well. They are a good quaility speaker that are fairly priced. I have had them in the back deck of two different cars and they sound great.

at 75' you aren't worried about high quality sound. you just want your tunes. go with a known company and you will be fine. infinity are good, inexpensive speakers.

I have 4 6x9's eclipse speakers on my tower and they sound real good in the boat and the wakeboarder can hear it real clear.

If you want them to last a few seasons baking out in the sun, DON'T get Infinitys. Sure they are great speakers, but Kickers and MB Quarts (sound out of your price range) hold up better to UV rays. Most people don't think about the sun/water damage when installing car speakers in boats.

Oshensurfer....yea, that platform is huge. The size has something to do with it being a Sky Ski special edition Calabria thing.... I am not exactly sure what the story was, but if you look, there is also a slot in the back left(facing the platform) that you can slide the Sky Ski foil into....

Off subject again -- I would love to see the underside of the platform to see how it's built. It just doesn't seem possible that it can extend that far out from the boat.

Is that Tower built all out of straight pipe? It looks like it would be easy to build with no curved pipe.... I like it.. Cool
