|

I am a brick waller and want to get a 360 or backroll soon. One trick I thought of to get me towards a 3 is a wrapped BS 3, I was thinking even off of the rollers or a boat. This would help me get used to spinning and seems fun and easy. Anyone do these? And vids/tips/anything? Also I think I would try it switch as soon as I landed it because if you visualize it, switch almost seems easier?
Thanks in advance |

Do you mean backside or heelside? I'm assuming you mean heelside because bs 3s are harder than frontside threes (fs/bs refers to the way you spin; ts/hs refers to which way your edging in).
The first three I ever learned was a heelside frontside wrapped 3. It was behind a bass boat and I learned it one wake first (landing in the table). I'd have the driver knock the speed down a bit because it helped me to be able to spin without getting pulled so hard or off axis. Anyway, that's all just personal preference.
Things I'd keep in mind are... Take a medium cut into the wake. Pop straight up off the wake. Don't spin off the wake or you'll spin off axis. Take it up and give a good tug with your back hand (that's on the double handle). Keep your head up and turn it in the direction you're spinning. Keep a tight grip with your lead hand as you'll likely have some slack when landing.
The main thing that really helped me was keeping my head up. If you look down you fall down. Whenever I would look down, the nose would dive and I would fall. I had a natural tendency to look down, so I had to consciously remind myself to look up.
Hmm, uhh, most importantly, have fun. Sticking that first three feels awesome. |

uh, well, i wouldnt suggest trying a wrapped bs 3 as your first 3. I'd say suck it up and just go straight for the hs fs 3 with the handle pass. Just pop off the wake hs, suck that handle into your tailbone, bring your legs up, and stomp the stuff out of it!! O yeah, and make sure you DO NOT SPIN OFF THE WAKE....wait until your at your peak height...and one more thing, be agressive when passing the handle, dont let the boat pull you over. I tried to take one really big, forgot to be agressive on the handle pass, got pulled over, and finally rememberd where i was 20 minutes later, not fun. Dont let that scare you though, use it as a confidence booster, as long as you;re agressive, you should be fine...
now go out and stomp that sh*t!!!! |

Thanks for the advice. I actually want to do both, HS FS 3 and a wrapped bs 3.
SCBrips, I was talking about a wrapped BS 3 of the rollers on my HS edge but not using my boat wake at all. Just rollers. I can get about 4 feet of air off of the rollers so I think I could get the rotation in fast enough. And I think it would look sweet. Ill get video when I try them. |

I jacked my ankle one year doing HS BS 3's and have not done a wrapped trick since.... Keep in mind you can get pulled off axis real easy doing wrapped tricks.
keep a firm grip on the small handle leaving the wake so you don't get unwrapped too quickly. Most people let go right off the wake and get spun like a top.
I don't even have a wrapped handle anymore. All my spins are handle passed. _________________ PEACE

| Yeah I rarely do wrapped spins but got a great idea few weeks ago & tried a HS FS Wrapped Indy 3. When was the last time you saw that?? It's cool cuz you can grab most of the way around. I think you just gotta suck it up & learn a FS passed 3. It's how you start spinning & once you get it you can try BS & take it to 5. Legit spinning is where it's at. No sense in selling yourself short. |

| I landed hs fs 3 passed first try. All I did to work on it was fill a milk gallon with rocks and tie it to a handle and pass it in my back yard keepin it close to my body. The take a pretty long cut into the wake but flatten out at the last second let go with front hand look over your front should at the horizon, pass it and spot the landin. |

| for these to warm up i suggest doing nice easy wake to wake 180's. once you have those down take the same cut but this time pull the handle to your back hip, and like everyone says keep you head up. i suggest on this having your hands in the middle of the handle because it makes it easier. if you dont the other end will pull away frm your body making it harder to grab. you will see this if u test it out no land. |

| yah, ive always thought wrapped spins were harder to do than spins with a handle pass. id suggest working on a hs fs 3 with the handle pass, and you can practice them on rollers as well if u want. you also said something about a backroll...i havent tried one yet but the guys i ride with said they're easier than a 3. i dunno, give it a shot. |
