| I am looking for a good for cheap board and bindings. Are Double Up boards crap? Also, I think I've heard someone say Hydroslide is not so good. So, should I stick with Hyperlite, LF, or CWB? Also are HL split bindings good and do they really fit everyone? |

Your best bet would be to pick up one of the packages that HL and LF offer. Personally I would go with the Team/Sphynx package as Ive heard nothing but good things about both the board and the bindings. Definately a reccomended buy. _________________

Have to aggree with asterisk, you will end up spending more money in the long run by buying a board that you don't end up liking. Go with a board and bindings that are proven and will keep you happy for a while _________________ pain heals, chicks dig scars, glory lasts forever |

Mariner, what is your skill level like? Can you jump wake 2 wake? What tricks do you hope to land this season? Does the boat you will be riding behind have a big wake? How tall, and how much do you weigh?
You can find some good deals on packages but you need to know what to look for. I would recomend that (I got a package for my first setup).
D-UP boards are not crap. And you will probably want to stay away from Hydroslide or HO sports. You'll probably be looking at HL, LF, CWB, D-UP, and O'Brien. I personally like the beginner/intermediate boards from LF. They have come up with a lot of boards that are easy enough to ride for a beginner but agressive enough that you shouldn't need to upgrade until you're landing some gnarly stuff. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

I'd also like to add that doubleup is not crap! I'm still riding my 2003 Doubleup, best board I've ridden (for me anyway) and haven't found one I like better yet! |

I suggest get what you want, if ya cannot afford it ....buy used, there's nothing wrong with a board from a past season if it was treated well. If you want hydroslide/double-up buy new. _________________ The horror...... the horror. |

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have jumped from wake to wake before, but it was behind a phat boat. My boat is not so phat--a 17ft Alumacraft with a ballsy (ha) 45 hp outboard. The wake is decently shaped, but not so big. My brother and I are gonna put a diy pylon on it, I think.
As far as a board I was thinking of one with a six fin configuration just cause it seems like that would track really well. I am currently looking at a LF Litmus 141 '04. And I'm all about buying last year's used stuff. btw, I'm 6 foot, 160 lbs.
Really, what's the deal with a 'beginner' board vs. and 'advanced?' Wouldn't I want an advanced one so I could have all the potential for improving?
Thanks |

|
What about Hydroslide makes them "not so good?"
- low quality, product made for beginners, if you are one thats fine, but you may out perform it soon. low quality bindings with poor footbeds and little ankel support. they arent very expensive, but you get what you pay for. |
