What do you ladies think about the products released just for you? They make them extra comfy and cushy (and make it very clear in the item description) for you, color them pretty pink and purple and dash them with angels, flowers and soft text. Then you look at the specs, they are just an exact knock off of a different item on the companies product line.

I just don't know about this, does it nother you that the companies are taking on that the girls need extra softness because.......? Just wondering how you feel on the whole seperate women's line of boards and boots.

Plus I wouldn't mind have soft and cooshy. When do we get our soft cooshy plug? Smile

The only company that has girls stuff that is worth looking at i feel is liquid force. But the minx are pretty much the sphynx (i think, correct me if im wrong) and the angel board is pretty much the team (again correct me if im wrong). So, i dont know. Some girls out there want a board that is cutesy but still is worth riding. I dont think the bindings are extra cooshy or anything, liquid force bindings are allready super cushy (look at the transit, sphynx and team). If your talking about other companies girls stuff, well thats the end of that, because honestly they arent even worth talking about (in my opinion). Hyperlites girls bindings are crap, but their guys bindings are decent, the guys bindings for hyperlite are more cooshy than the girls bindings... What does that tell you? So after all that, i applaud liquid force for making a girls line that is actually worth riding. And after all that, i ride a guys board and bindings (LF team and sphynx bindings). haha. Sorry about the rambling on, im bored.

well, some girls are into the cushy, i, personally, ride in all "guys" stuff, premier belmonts and guys board shorts, i think the only girl item i wear when i'm riding is my swim suit.....and thats kind of a must. I think that some of the girls products they put out are cheesy and that the boards aren't nearly aggressive enough, which kind of puts me off, but in the end i buy the stuff so i can ride the way i want to ride.

I ride in guys stuff too-at first I thought I wanted a "girly" board and bindings, but then I got mine and I love it-doesn't bother me that it isn't a pink or purple board.

Actually, its kind of bad ass-black and red.

I think companies do that for the girly girls that have to wear pink, no matter what they are doing.

I don't think it is unfair to take a guy's model, change the color and call it a girl's model. Now, if they did this and increased the price, THAT would be unfair. Like the others who have already posted, I ride boards and bindings that work for me (TFD & Parks)...I could give a hoot what color they are.

Does anyone here think that guys OR girls buy a board based on graphics alone? Would you choose a different rocker, different shape or different length just b/c the top and bottom were cooler?

i choose my boards and bindings based on specs, not graphics or color. i like more aggressive boards, and those happen to be the guys boards, so thats what i ride.

That whole girly marketing approach was a waste on me. I steered clear of any of the girl specific stuff just because me personally I got into wakeboarding in part to show I could play/ride with the big boys so I wanted the boy toys. I too knew then that the girl stuff was the same as the guys with different graphics...just wasn't interested in a girly graphic. Now I don't care so much about that and would consider girl specific stuff...but only LF. Like Wakechiknikki was saying, LF is the only one that seems to be taking girl gear seriously. I think next time I buy anything will consider LF more just for that reason.

I brought this whole issue up a while back...Ended up being a really great thread:
http://forums.wakeboarder.com/viewtopic.php?t=31063&highlight=womens+wakeboarding

Props to LF to stepping it up more than any other company. I wanted to suppport them because they supported us...Now I ride a cwb absolute plat w/ zues, probably one of the least 'girly looking' boards on the market. I think its bada**. I never bought it for th e graphics though, I bought it for the ride. Girls specific stuff is generally a joke. The industry has made womens wakeboarding itself a joke...whe the last time you saw a picture of a woman riding on the cover of a mag? Hmm...

Sorry I've got a lot to say but im in the airport on my way home...more later...

UK Alliance cover of the gear issue '05

for more info go to http://epiccam.com/steftor/

Maybe she will help out women in the sport in general - the site also has a JetPilot pro model vest that they designed for her so we may need to add JetPilot to the short list of companies that are woman-friendly (Ten-80, LF...).

Lzrd - I totally spaced that one. I was really just thinking about here in the us, specifically with WBM...which I believe to be most peoples source.

And yes the last tme it was just a Emily Copeland standing...not riding. I wish i could get my hands on the UK copy...

Honestly when it came down to buying something that I would find in a normal colored product or a pretty pink or purple one. I would buy the normal color. Yeah I mean its nice that they offer products in those colors for the girls that actually want it but I mean I don't think its that necessary.

Well when I first started out I fell for the "girls" line...I had an Hyperlite divne the graphics where cool but the board just wasn't for me. I found new love in my 04 Absolute CWB she is bad A$$ and my riding has improved so much. Although I do like the idea of women's specific stuff I just haven't seen it where it should be!

Okay now that's my 2 cents need to get back to the Ill. game
