I didn't write this, just copied and paste from www.360wakeboard.com
Heads Up
I have just learned from another web site, that many of the new Hyperlite State boards and possibly other HL boards have missed a step in the manufacturing process. The ink dyes have not been sealed into the board, and they will bleed on the seats in your boat, which is very difficult to get out and in some cases the vinyl may have to be replaced. That dye will also easily transfer to your hands, and be transferred all over a boat interior as well.
So far Hyperlite is replacing the boards Fed Ex Rush, to get them replaced pronto. If you have a new 05 HL board, you should check it out carefully, before you take it on a boat
P.S= this is a post from another site. _________________

I've sold hundreds of Hyperlite boards and have never heard of this happening. If it was a problem someone at the factory would have contacted shops to let them know. They've always done that in the past. _________________ Why Vegan? |

a friend of mine had an 03 byerly 142 with the jib base on both sides of the board. he left it out one nite resting on the vinyl of one of the boats (so the heelside edge and heel of the binding were resting on the vinyl) one nite, and the next morning there was a nice blue line left on the vinyl from where the jib base had bled onto the vinyl. hyperlite wouldnt do anything about it. _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

| I think he said it was just with the new(05) State series. And its not like they can recall all the states because it sounds like it must have been just one set that was messed up in the process. Just my .02 |

K-dub, do you know which models have done this? I have not had a problem yet, but I will pass it on to the guys I ride with.
About how long does it take to start bleeding onto everything? _________________

If the benches come out then just don't get them wet or they may bleed on your shorts. |

Ok, so I thought I'd entertain you all with a little experiment. I'm going to take my boards (See my posts here: http://forums.wakeboarder.com/viewtopic.php?t=37913&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=35 ) and see if any of them will bleed at all. I'm going to take a wet paper towel, set the board on top of it, and leave it there for a while. We'll see if anything shows up, and maybe settle this.
If theres any other conditions you think I need to take into concideration, let me know. I will only be using the base of the boards, I don't want to take the protectant off the topsheet, I gotta keep them clean.
And I'll be taking pictures.
Damn... just read this was for State boards, I don't have any states... oh well.

I left my 04 Byerly on the sundeck of my boat in the sun and when I took it off I had the design of the demon on my boat. It was there for awhile, but it finally came off. I think that it just got really hot being black and that jib base probably had something to do with it. _________________ "Have you ever noticed that waffles are just pancakes with syrup traps?"

wow, never heard of that, probably good practice not to keep you board on the vinyl in the sun for a long time with any board. if you do sliders, you may damage the outer sealant and expose the die? _________________ Pain is just Fear leaving the body |

I think i've narrowed it down to the time that the epoxy is allowed to set. The boards might not of been in the presses long enough to completely seal, they also need time outside the presses to cure.
On my boards they have a tape like thing that goes over the top and bottom of the board to keep from employees scratching them. They are usually taken off right before they leave the factory, or at whatever shop you buy them at. On all of the protectant material, the dye has clearly been pulled out of the board, but when I use a paper towel to see if any more comes out, nothing does...
I am lead to believe the boards need time to set, which could quite possibly either the boards wern't cured properly, or are simply "too new"... either way, im sure hyperlite has no problems fixing their mistakes. |

I remember when all the Liquid Force boards had the peeling problem. It used look like ya had plastic wrap hanging off the thing.
At least they didn't jack up the boat interior. That sucks! _________________ "I like to call my balls the bush twins"- Zack Galifinakis |
