I'm thinking about ordering an 03 Wakesetter VLX and was inbetween the Titan Series II (polished) or the Boss Malibu Billet? I have to fold my tower everyday to go into my garage and I don't want a tower that will rattle. The tower has to be easy to fold and have no rattle. I know the Boss is about $500.00 more then the Titan. Please help.

I think Boss are way better looking than Titan. Both are good towers.

Dude, give me three days. I have my 03VLX sitting at the dock, naked as hell. Billet shows up Monday, be on with the bimini, speaks, mirror by Tues. I'll post pics.
IMO the Titan is horrible looking (quality is good), and the Skylon looks like it was made in a high school shop class.

If anyone is at the Orlando tour this weekend, it will be on display in the Malibu booth. It's going to be F'n sick.

Does Malibu have a position on what tower to use? You've invested in one sweet boat and just make sure both towers are OK with Malibu and they do not impact your hull warranty at all.

Seems like every boat mfg is different on how they feel about towers being put on their boats wrt hull warranties. Just a thought. If both are OK with Malibu just get the one you want.

From some serious geeky stuff we did the Titan has lateral stiffness (wont flex from a side pull) better than any other tower (including ours) but the look is either love it or hate it from what We've found. It's technically overkill bit it is a great and justifiable marketing story from a company making great towers that are proven.

Boss makes really sweet products and the new Billet (although major $$$) in an incredible product.

Bu doesn't mind what tower you put on. They are rather lenient (SP?) on what they allow. It surprised me. Most are actually offered in the building process

AOBLAK-Go with the Boss, it looks a lot better. I wanted that one but the wife didn't agree with the extra money and she is the accountant. We went with the Skylon, no matter how strong the Titan is, it was just too ugly to us.

Are they charging you for the Titan? They shouldn't be, and if they are only charging you 500 for the Boss lucky you, it was much more for me.

I beg to differ with the boss....especially if you are plannig on putting tower speakers on it. There's quite a bit of movement. I would recomend the Boss collapsable swoop for your boat over the Billet. It's a very solid tower, as well as the Titan, and Skylon...

Just my opinion and advice...take it as you will. Wink

There was a Skylon on this boat with the same speaker set up, before the new billet. Crying or Very sad

Kyle, thank you for your response, I was hoping that you would respond. I have a Titan on my 02 Wakesetter VLX and love the tower but liked the lines of the Boss. It looks like I will have to stay with the Titan polished tower.

Forwaken, my dealer told me that his cost between the two towers was $1000.00, but a polished tower is $500.00 more on a Titan so that is where I came up with the $500.00 difference.

Kyle-
So are you saying you would go back to the Skylon Kyle for the function? Confused

Makes sense now. Rolling Eyes

I think the Billet is a sweet looking tower, know nothing about it's functionality and wonder why there are so many speaker wires exposed? Kyle, are you not able to run them internally? It looks like there are some obstructions that prevent a clean install.

Look ma, no wires (actually there is a small loop by the base but hardly noticeable)

I obviously have the first generation Titan and swear by it for function and rigidity. Don't think it's the most asthetically pleasing but think it looks alright after accessorizing Laughing and the gen 2 looks even better in my opinion.

Steve

Doesn't anyone else think the Boss Billet tower looks kind of funny in a powder coated finish? I don't like how the billet parts blend into the background leaving the remaining tower looking all weak and spindly. Of course, I'm not saying anything about the functionality of it because the rear pieces are indeed there. They just look like they aren't. I might like it better though if it were all polished.

All I can say is the Skylon Swoop (which was on the boat), was a much stiffer tower than the Billet, I guess we were just caught up in the Bling?? When it comes to Boss...they're hard to beat. Just my inside scoop here...don't buy the billet! Any of the other boss towers are frickin' great! But, the Billet tower is just a plain old wobble trap, period! No offense to Rio, or Boss...they make great products and always have, but I think that this new tower was'nt designed to the fullest extent. I rode behind the new Titan tower last thursday, and I have nothing bad to say about that one, also...very stiff, and I actually like the new look. It's growing on me more and more.

Like I said, No offense Rio....I know you read these boards. You know I got your back homie, but I recommend the Boss collapsable swoop over the new billet 100%!! Wink

KYLE-
Thank you for the honest opinion, especially coming from a dealer, yuck yuck. Laughing Laughing . I don't mean to start anything with you Kyle, but you did make me feel better about choosing the skylon. Rio shouldn't be offended, constructive criticism can be taken a long way, if taken properly. If you have any more good advise for my VLX Kyle feel free to let me know.

I was under the impression that you lose the hull warrenty if you don't get an oem tower from malibu.
I think the titan's are ugly.
The boss billet has a ton of side movement, I also hit my head on the speakers about 30 times in one day Mad

I like the boss, which at first i thought it was ugly. It has grown on me and its one of the top choices of towers in my opinion. I just wish they would make a tower to fit older boats like my 87 nautiqe.
