is the continuos the way to go for a beginer-intermediate? Are ther any boards that comprimise with the rocker types or the level of the rider for which they are made?

i would recommend a countinuous rocker for you if your just starting out. the reason for this is they provide less of a pop off the wake so you can work on controling your jumps without having to deal with the explosion that a 3 stage gives you. and typically on boards you will see most pro models , at least from what ive seen in hyperlite boards, having a 3 stage rocker and are most recommended for advanced riders. also a continuous rocker makes surface tricks like 180's and 360's easier , at least from my experience.

Lin Stacey, Ill break it down for you like this:

3-stage is a slower feeling board usually with an aggressive pop, generally they are better for more advanced manuvers, like big spins amd complicated invert moves where you want to go wake to wake but get the maximun height

Continuous is faster feeling ride, and is a smooth long pop this really helps beginners get the distance they need to clear the wake that first time, plus the smooth pop is not as aggressive and jarring, much better for beginners to get acclimated with the feel of doing tricks.

Subtle 3 stage, and abrupt contunous- are in between these two styles they tend to be a little of the their opposite, what I mean by that is an abrupt continous will have a little harder, agressive pop and be a little slower feeling in the water. A subtle 3 stage will be a little faster and have a little mellower pop.

For most begginners I would advise against a full on 3 stage board I.E. the Subject Parks or the Byerly similarly, I wouldnt reccomend a really floaty/fast continous like the murray or the trip.

The best solution is ultimately to try stuff, demo if you can or look for a shop that has a performance gaurantee, I don't know where your located but if your in So Cal I can reccomend at least one shop that has a performance gaurantee and good service

for a beginner i would say continuos or blended/subtle 3-stage but not an agressive 3 stage like a parks or subjekt.

Continous rockers are great for beginners, but i basically learned on a subjekt and i say go for a 3-stage because if you board a lot you will progress very fast and once you start feeling to urge to go big, why would you waste your money on another board. if i were you i would just go for it and get a 3-stage, get a subjekt if you feel the urge, you will save money in the long run and they are so much better when you start to get some air.
