which one is the best value, my dad and i double thought the mobius, cause he didnt know if i can progress well on it or something like that..i dissagreed..i know he would also love to save the 10g's, he kinda likes the vdrive confifuration too..

which one will pump out the best wake, seat people more comfortably, but out a better surf wake?, and be more reliable

any thoughts are greatly appreciated.. THANKS! Very Happy

My vote's for the Maristar, but only becuase I know that boat cause a bud has the same one. Great boat, and both are.

It's an apple vs orange comparison since it's a direct vs v-drive. If you ski the direct has a flatter wake at 30+, but the V-drive is better for wakeboarding, IMHO.

Apples to oranges is so right for many reasons -
1. tower & tower speakers
2. v-drive vs direct
3. ballast vs none
4. warrenty vs none
5. hopefully better dealer support because its new - warrenty
6. better resale because its newer
just to name a few.
The v-drive maybe better for boarding once you get real good and add a tower, but until then the Moomba should be plenty.

Can't agree Silvtongdvl.... The Mastercraft pretty much has its depreciation done....it really isn't going to drop much....in fact, may just kind of hold steady if boat prices continue to jump as they are. Good or bad, it is always going to have the name recognition over the Moomba. IMO easier to sell a V over a DD.

Any salt water fot the MC?

I run the Maristar , but I have a 225 VRS. Great boat ...even better wake. MC does a great job of not depreciating after a few years. I can sell mine a year later for what I paid for it....that says something to me!

Wakesetter789, that just means they need more weight...or the rope needs to be out further.

its up to you man... depreciation vs. warranty...its a really tough call. But how long are you planning on owning this?

It is the same hull as the x-30....have you heard that they are washy?Wakesetter789, ....

I can see where you have heard that. It is supposed to be a family boat, it has tons of room and does the trick for me. I added 1350 lbs this year and I am actually not looking forward to hitting that wall!

If it is quality that will last and resale.....Maristar. Dont limit yourself....there are TONS of boats around right now. Look at www.tmcowners.com there is a great thread there about cheap good boats that have been located.

I have a very similar problem. Gone back & forth between a Tige 21iR that is newer, has more goodies, and is slightly cheaper. Other boat is a Maristar 210. Couple years older, no goodies, but its a V-drive, and its a Mastercraft.

Was heading for the MC, changed my mind to the Tige (due to dealer & goodies). After canceling the MC & saying ok to the Tige, I started noticing threads about Tige quality, problems with Mercruiser scorpion engines, and issues about d-drive Tiges taking on more bow water than a V-drive maristar would. Now I want to call back both dealers and switch. Oh my gawd, I'm so confused!!!!

So I know where you're coming from!!! Sometimes even though the two boats are very different, the decision is not always cut-and-dry!

At first glance the Moomba sounds like a better deal to me because it is trimmed out for wakeboarding, but I'm not sure I could pull the trigger on a d-drive. The room and seating are way more convenient on a v-drive.

I guess I would keep looking and find a newer v-drive that has the tower and wakeboard options. I have seen '02 and up Moomba LSVs go in the mid to upper 20Ks and think the LSV has a great wake.

I would take the mobe for sure, also nice looking and there is a tower and is set ready to go for wakeboarding.

IMO, the maristar's wake is slightly better for boarding, I have no idea about surfing. I rode behind this exact model maristar last summer and thought it was nice. they had about 5 ppl in the boat and 700lbs of ballast. I dont think either of these boats can produce a premier wake -IMO. i much more enjoyed the wake behind my brothers mid 90's sport nautique and my neighbors 01 X-star. I rode behind the mobius a few years ago and i didnt really know what i was doing regarding wakeboarding. For those prices, i would def. go with the maristar, but...i think that you can find a better boat for those prices for what you want. take it easy

One more vote for the mobius. People rag on them alot, but i hae seen them in person, and they seem to be nicer than people around here give them credit for.

I'm a fan of the Maristar. Here's a thread from a guy that bought a used one hooked up for boarding. One of the best looking rigs I've seen (IMHO). Very sharp.
