Interesting, can't say it looks good, but from a functional standpoint it seems in line with what Schwene has been experimenting with. A boat with an ugly tower is better than no boat at all.

I guess he didn't want to mess with installing mounts on the side of the boat instead of on the top.

Very true JRYoung. A few words my ma and pa told me once!
It's the thought that counts
If it works, don't fix it.
Please yourself before anyone else.
I give the guy mad props for making it, however I'd still be a little embarassed riding in it.

The seats are ripped up inside too.
IF not for that, it wouldn't be a bad investment for 3K, plus 1K for a monster tower.
But whenever I see torn seats, I assume that the engine has been abused as well. Not always true, but.....

Don't see why it wouldn't work very well. Strong supports at the mount points there.
CB, you should see my 8 season old seats and carpet. Just time to reupholster, that's all.

Looks like the tower legs slide through the cup holders on the bow and probably go all the way to the floor? I did something similar with a Bayliner I once had. Not a tower, but a board rack.
I removed one of the cup holders from the bow and slid a 3" metal fence post through it. Beneath the cup holder opening, I mounted a footing on the floor for the fence post to slide over and lock in with a cotter pin. On the top side, I mounted a board rack to the fence post which held two boards.
What the heck, actually looked pretty cool and got the boards off of my floor. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.

Nauty, I know you're a half-a$$ handman/do-it-yourselfer, but doesn't a fence post-cup-holder-mounted wakeboard rack step over the line?

Interesting, I never really thought of it like that, but now that I look back in retrospect over some of the boats that I've seen over the years it's actually quite fitting.

I helped with this tower. My friend and his dad both know a lot about pipe bending, and this is what they did. I was just the extra set of hands needed for install. It was extremely rigid. And it folded down nicely too.

Great job by both DIY towers above. Anything is way better than watching from shore.
Not all towers start our phat looking, but they all start out with someone getting out some metal and workin into a tower so they can wakeboard better!

I learned a long time ago that if it works...don't knock it. I'm one of those guys that has the wakeboarding superstar boat because I can (flamesuit on) but I admire someone with the mechanical aptitude to build a tower.

MonsterTower, My friend doesn't have that boat anymore, but you would definitely recognize his newer boat. It's the Maxxum V-Drive on your website. He didn't want a DIY tower on that boat. That tower looks PHAT on his ride!

My seats are also starting to show there age, nothing bad though. I also have a rip on the sun deck from when we demoed the boat and the then owner did not strap his wakeboard down, well it flew out of the rack and bounced of his head he said it was the second time it happened to him (my brother bought it, I then bought it from him)I plan to reupholster next year.

stare downs? come on man seriously, it will do the job, and why is it "amatuer" just because someone can't spend 60000 on a new x-star doesn't mean they're amateur, totally wrong attitude man
good for them for making use of what they had
look at the plus side, having a tower that for forward means longer rope length

I'd much rather see somebody duct tape a swingset to their boat to help them board than to see them spend their money on a jetski or more f'in stereo equipment to bolt on to their X80.
These guys may start a movement against the industrial/commercial boat business. I can see it now: "wake hippies".
