I have been experimenting between 18-19mph at 60ft. It is personal preference or what is the best way to get best results....trying for huge air..etc.

| Gbgonzal138, CRAP! (Fast!) I do 22mph with 60 feet of rope (5 of handle) but its more like 68 because I have an I/O and tie the rope to the back instead of middle with a tower. Works good. |

i rock my 05 VLX with 2650 lbs of ballast at 24 mph and 85 feet of rope. Gives me alot of time in the air for poked out grabs in rotations and the wake gets firmer. _________________ "Life is a funny thing right when you think you have got a hold of it, it bucks off of a double up funny and break two ribs when you bounce off the bottom of the 4ft deep private lake"

| TxStateWake: what it comes down to is that you'll have to keep experimenting to find what you like best, but you definitely need to be going faster than 18-19 if you're going for big air. Generally as speed increases you'll want to increase line length also. |

Ride as fast as you feel comfortable.
A good rule of thumb I use for line length, at your max speed, use the longest line possible where you can still clear the wake toeside. This is what I have found works well for setting the correct line length for beg-intermed level riders.
The number of feet for the line is pretty irrelevant and varies a lot by boat speed, width and size of wake, rider ability, speed of board, tow point on boat, etc. so the numbers posted by other riders aren't going to help you much. |

Tigé 22v- really wide wake, so I normally run at 70-75 feet and 24mph on the perfect pass. _________________ I eat Vegans. Medium-Rare.

Behind an old X-Star (new X-2) I ride 21 mph @ 65'. I've tried the fast and long thing and it's just not my cup of tea. I prefer to ride a little slower with a longer board. _________________ Why Vegan? |

Maybe I've made a mistake. Think it's 65ft (with the handle 5ft.)
Tought was that |

75-80 feet behind our response @ 23MPH or thereabouts, depending on how much weight. As a member of a uni club, the amount we weight the boat varies almost every time we are out.
We have perfectass but operate in MPH mode. I was boarding at 2950RPM last time i was out.
Edit: oh yeah, i agree, rope length for beginner/intermediate should be around where you can go w2w TS. Remember there are 4 ways you can hit a wake.. Forwards Backwards, Inside out Forwards and INside out backwards. or something like that. |
