I was about to purchase a Monster Tower for my i/o boat. When I logged onto their site to purchase I noticed their price went from $995 to $1195.

Does anyone know why their rates increased?

I guess I should call them... Rolling Eyes

I'm not 100% sure but they are doing really well so why not. Maybe the reason is becuase metal prices have surged.

WakeTech, I wouldn't want to specualte personally but that seems like it would make sense.

At the end of the day... in my opinion $1200 is still well ahead of the competition. especially as the tower has been £995 for so long now.

Just my 2 cents..

Let's think about the economy in the USA. When you ship something, it goes in trains, planes, automobiles. We travel in the same way. With oil/gas prices continually rising, due to the lack of proffit in that industry Rolling Eyes everything else will rise too. Groceries are one of the areas where the higher cost hits home also. You just don't notice it as bad, because the cost is spread out through many products.

The Swoop is nice also. I'd stick to the Monster though. Just my opinion.

even though the prices have risen theyre still a great deal IMO. especially when its eas7y to spend 2-3K on a new tower.

I was going to order one last year but didn't geat around to it until the end of the season. My girl talked me into waiting until spring. I called MT and asked if they were planning any price increases for 2005. I was told no. Oh well I guess I'll just pony up 200 more bucks. With the reputation that MT has I doubt that it was something that he wanted to do. I'm sure it was purely economic as stated by others. I should probably be upset about the increase since I'm going to pay it, but I'm not

The Monster Tower is well worth the $995. I just purchased in January and it was very easy to install as well. The best bang for your Buck

yeah they DO include shipping w/ that price. Still... its probably the best bang for your buck on a wake tower. Additionally, Monster Bill (the owner) is on here quite often. Just do a search on here and you'll find tons of positive experiences with them...

but a 20% increase, dayum.

actually I think I get it. with Breanne's new bolt-ons, her fee went up. So now to get to see some tig-o-bitties in ads and online, the towers cost 200 more. way to go horndogs. Laughing

just kidding of course.

ttuclint, I like your reasoning Laughing
but i get the feeling its a combination of a lot of the above. everything seems to have gone up in the 2 years that Monster has been around - Gas, Aluminum, Inflation, etc...

I also think its worth noting the changes in the tower since its initial launch.
stainless Hiems were added over the original alloy ones, quick release kit, 2 set screws per side in the top assembly rather than only one. etc... all this must have cost monster tower a fair few $$'s... I suppose its just come to a point where they need to bump the price up a little to keep everything working.

Just my 2 cents...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Monster Towers used to be around $1199 originally? I think I remember Bill dropping the price over the winter last year and then he just never raised it back up again? I don't know, maybe it was the free shipping that he did over the winter and then left it on all year? Either way, $1199 is still well worth it. They are great towers.

Well, I contacted monster tower and Bill expained the rate increase. He also allowed the original price to set since I contacted him on the day the increase was made. Now thats some serious Customer Service!!

I made my purchase and can't wait to install. So far I'm glad I went with Monster Tower. Another one for the books! Wink

Nauty, I was looking at monster towers 2 years ago and they were $995. I think this was their starting price.

That expanation on wakeworld is good Here's Bills explantion:

Moster Tower wrote:

Thanks for this post and I wanted to take a minute to cover what has lead to our price change.

First, I’m not the “sharpest shovel in the shed” but thankfully I know a lot of really smart people that have been a huge help along the way. They told me the Monster Tower should be priced at $1395 when I came to market in April, 2003 based on "market conditions". The Titan I was $1895 at the time in black or white and like $250 more for polished. Everything else that was decent was well over $2K just two years ago. The Titan I is a great product and if it had been priced as it is now, and not folded onto the windshield frame of the boat, I would have likely owned one and Monster Tower would have not existed. Please note their new price is for Black only and White or Polished are upgrades making it quite a bit more expensive.

I looked at the cost, overhead, margins, etc the same way I do at my other company (www.EasyAwn.com) and determined the price should have been a little over $1000 for the Monster Tower when we came to market. I felt keeping it three digits ($995) was a great thing to do so that’s what I set the price at.

We added the quick release that was a $25 option as standard. Most people ordered that so we started including in at no charge. We originally had zinc plated steel Heim joint which is typical and offered a stainless Heim joint option for $60, but decided to absorb that and include them with every tower since many of our international customers used their boats mostly in salt water.

Basically we held off way past when we first could justify a price change because I was quite attached to the ring of $995.

After adding the quick release, stainless Heim joints, additional hardware, and now the swivel tow point as standard with the tower since we came to market two years ago, it was time to cover the changes.

We have also been getting whacked hard with continued aluminum price increases along the way. (see http://futures.tradingcharts.com/chart/AL/M as raw aluminum cost had rocketed in the past two years. We also now have new cost items like legal fees, employees, a health plan and . . . Pretty soon it looks like were going to be a real company

We are trying really hard to keep delivering affordable towers and accessories and our new light bars at $350 each and chrome plated speakers at $395 a pair are continued efforts to provide affordable towers and accessories.

I'd still buy one at the new price. Great customer service is worth the extra money.

I bent one of my bolts when I installed it and Bill sent me 3 extra ones in case I do it again! Plus 2 T-shirts and plenty of stickers to cover the entire tower.

I ordered my Monster Tower today! They honored the price of $995, because I had phoned it in friday, before the price increase, but forgot my credit card! So I actually had to to place the order today. I am very impressed with the customer service so far, and from what I have read, I will have nothing but a positive experience with my Monster Tower!
I work for a manufacturing company, and the metal suppliers have been passing on metal surcharges to the increase in fuel/shipping costs. We in turn pass these surcharges on to our customers. Monster Tower's price increase is overdue, just like the WW post says.
