Well, it was freakin cold yesterday and I made a few rookie mistakes. I did not watch what others were doing. I got into my frozen bindings (others dipped them into the hot tub to loosen up), could not find my gloves so I went gloveless, could not get out of my bindings after the ride so I a friend and another guy had to drag me off and then carry me to the hot tub. After about 10 minutes and help with others I finally free'd myself from my bindings.
On one fall I must have hit ice with my hands because I have cuts and bruises all over my right hand. It was soooooo cold. I don't know if I can do it next year but if I do I'll be sitting in the hot tub with my bindings and board before the run and I'll have all the extra cold weather gear needed.
If any of you were there and got video of me getting dragged off the dock and carried to the hot tub let me know. I'd like to get a copy. _________________ I broke a mirror.

That sounds like fun (no it really does, I'm not being sarcastic). I wish my lake wasn't frozen over, or that it wasn't -15 outside, or even better that it was summer again. Where is winter water land? |

I had to work all day so I unfortunately didn't get to see all the havoc during the day, but the night-time was great! The band played in the tent outside and there was LOTS of dancing! (So who saw the guy in the black leather jacket??? He was definitely in his own little world! hahaha!)
Ya, Byerly was there, but he didn't ride. He said he "didn't have any stuff." |

John:
Nice to formally be introducted. . . I was "the other guy" that got you to the hot tub. Sorry we didn't get to chat more I had to run off and help my friends get ready to ride. Anyways. . . glad to hear the board came off. . . I hate that feeling of being in freezing water AND being stuck in the bindings. Hope the hand heels OK. . you were bleeding pretty good.

it was pretty cold it was like 10 degrees air temp and the water was 34 degrees. I think about 40 people rode. It was a fun time! |

Holy Crap!! I can't imagine how a face plant must feel in water temps that cold! The coldest I ever road in was 60. That was cold enough for me. A shortie did the job keeping my body warm, but when my head got wet, brrrrrrrr! |

That is just plain crazy. 40 people collectively lost their minds, that's the only explanation. I got the chills just looking at the pictures. |

You guys are insane!!! I can't even begin to imagine how cold your face and hands were while you were riding. The coldest weather that I have ever wakeboarded in was 45 degrees with 25mph winds. I got up did a tantrum and decided that it was too cold for me.
I have a lot of respect for anybody that rides when it is so cold that there is still ice on the water.

Chill for charity is going to be cheezy since it's in APRIL... The ice is off the river every year by the beginning of March, so we'll have already been riding for at least a few weeks IN WETSUITS before "chill" happens...
The idea of going riding at Winterwaterland in that COLD wind was not appealing to me, so I didn't go this year.

Vanick, I'm sorry you think Chill will be "cheesy" since it's in April ~ we were just hoping to have a lot more riders to help raise some good money for Make-A-Wish. You even said yourself you didn't want to ride last weekend because it was so cold!!!?? Silly. Maybe we shouldn't call it "Chill", is that what you're saying???
Anyway, everyone keep your eyes open for information soon to be posted about this charity event; mark your calendars for Saturday, April 5th! |

Seahorse,
I just thought that the month of April is kinda cheezy for "Chill"... March would probably have been better from a "extreme" standpoint... By april it's already in the 60s... But you are definately right about getting more people out and having a big party/get together.
When you tell somebody, "I'm going wakeboarding in December" they think cool, this guy might be a bit insane, or he's just really dedicated to helping a good cause...
When you say, "I'm going wakeboarding in April" it just seems normal to me and my friends.
Don't get me wrong.... I think it's awesome what's happening, especially that it's for a charity that can really use the money, (and not helping the AWA, I think that's who was charging the money to ski at winterwaterland)... and I will definately be there.. Maybe even riding in just my boardshorts... no wetsuit or drysuit.
Ok... hopefully people don't hate me too bad now Just kidding.
