here is a little trivia question for all of you trick name experts out there. one day my friend and i were discussing tricks and a hardflip came up. we got into discussing the difference between a hardflip and an inward kickflip. i say that the name inward kickflip doesnt exist because it is the same trick as a hardflip (fs flip without the 180). he argues that a hardflip is where the board flips more vertically (half impossible hhalf kickfliP) and that an inward kickflip is a fs flip without the 180. so if these tricks could be cleared up that would be great. haha peace

A hardflip is a frontside popshuvit with a kickflip, basically a frontside flip without you doing the 180. It looks like an impossible/kickflip combo, but it's not.
The term inward kickflip doesn't exist. It sounds like a backside popshuvit with a kickflip, which would be a varial kickflip.
Before this argument comes up I'm clearing it up now; varial heelflips are a frontside popshuvit with a heelflip, inward heelflips are a backside popshuvit with a heelflip.

Jester, that is what i thought. Thank you for clearing it up. i have never even heard anybody call anything an inward kickflip, but my friend was arguing with me and thought id get some references for him and prove him wrong haha.

that is what i told him.... its just a matter of spinning the board like a Vflip or more vertically. i need to show him a video of somebody doing a FS flip where it looks like they do a hardflip and a body varial not so much a kickflip 180

that is the only downside of that game is sometimes the trick names arent legit, though i guess some people do call a layed out hardflip and inward kf (i asked my friend and he calls it that, weird.)

Okay Jester, I have one for you. I'm confused with the differneces between a hardflip and a varial flip. What I see in both is a kickflip with a pop shuv it. Maybe you can clarify this for me..

eklipse, a varial flip is a kickflip with a backside shuvit (in front of you). And a hardflip is a kickflip with a frontside shuvit (also known as the infamous half impossible, half kickflip)

Inward heelflip is a legit term. There have been some incorrect terms thrown around in the Tony Hawk series, but for the most part they do a good job. Better than most skate games anyways.
Seems like the hardflip varial flip confusion is solved. Hardflips are definitely difficult to discern. That's why I'm attaching a sequence from the hardflip master, Chet Thomas.
