Howdy Ya'll Im from Sydney Austalia- what a great informative site this is here. WD.
As a newb- Ive been out 3 sessions, so far. Just purchased a 135 Obrien Vision 04 with Hyperlite Spin binds. Im 65 kg and 5ft 7.
My question is if I take the .9 depth rails out, will I better learning without the rails in with the board I have?
I can cross wake to wake so far, I do pick things up relatively quickly.
When I try switching- I end up face planting. Or just bad technique?
People say to learn Switch before tricks- which way to go?
Does the package I bought sound ok for an amatuer?
Thanks and nice site.. |

| yeah it sounds good. i learned my w2w and then learned switch w2w and now when i learn a trick i try to learn it switch right after. you shouldnt have to change anything on your board to ride switch. good luck. |

That will be a good setup for you. If you take the removable fins out it will be easier to do surface 180s, but really you shouldn't need to. You just have to practice and learn how to slide the board around without catching the front edge. It will come with time.
As far as riding switch, it would be a good idea to get comfortable with it early on. It will make advancing and learning new tricks much easier, especially ones where you land switch. I spent all my time learning new tricks regular, and now I really wish I could ride better switch. |
