Has anyone gone with an Acme prop for their X-Star? I am thinking of going with the #381...its the 14x18x1 1/8 prop. Let me know if you've gone with this one or any other and your thoughts. TIA

I have whatever acme prop the acme company suggested for my boat and it is awesome. I have a MC 205 Prostar. Which is the same hull as the xstar. My question though is why do you think that the people on here have more technical knowledge of which prop you should buy then the people at acme, or your local dealer?

Parytb, My question was to determine the difference to the stock OJ that came with the boat. There are a couple suggestions from the techs at Acme to use either the 381 or the one with the 17 1/2". How did your gas mileage change by going from the 20" OJ to the 18" Acme?

ORIG.FRG, Did you get the 381? Do you usually run with a lot of extra weight? I can either go with the OJ that came with the boat and get mine rebuilt or leave mine as it is and get the Acme and use mine existing as a spare. I have a friend that got one for his ProStar 195 and loves it so that's where I am leaning. I am going to take it out next weekend with the 381 and see how it goes. Do you know your average gallons per hour with the new prop?

I really like the acme prop ( the one suggested) but it takes some getting use to, Because of the feel My oj is the spare. I don't worry about gas because we roll with 5 sacs filled most the time and the hole shot is more important then the few bucks in gas. Becareful, (never over 4500 rpm) the acme prop will easly push you over and yes there is a rev limiter with a x-star and this prop gets there quick. go for it, you always have the oj and if your not satisfied with acme, use it as the spare

I really do not know if the gas guzzling changed much. I had a new engine put in around the same time and have three sacs. I think I burn about 10 dollars an hour. I do know that the prop is awesome. My boat is a 1997 which means it has 275 hp. My boat seems just as powerful (hole shot) if not more so, then my friends 2000 xstar and my friends 2001 malibu, both of which i believe have 310 hp. I never "floor it" to pick people up, it seems to hold speed well, and I am running around 2700 rpm at 22 mph boarding. Seems about right.

Thanks for the opinions everyone. I am getting the Acme 13.5x17.5 put on the boat Thursday and I am going to get the OJ rebuilt and use it as the spare.
