What does it exactly mean to 'load the line before a jump'?

Wakeborda918, Look in the trick tips section about the progressive edge. It is the edge technique that most tricks in wakeboarding use...It is definitely something that you want to master early on.

Anytime that you edge outside of the wake and lean against the pull of the boat using your progessive edge.....

Pretty much making the line tighter, so you have somethng to pull against when you hit the wake.
