Mmmmk, I am having trouble getting the handle. I feel like my rotation is pretty solid but I've never been close to the handle. Help me out guys.

first off, i cant do this trick. but i do know what is looks like done properly. from the vid, it looks like A. you are letting go of the handle before u try to grab it with the other hand./B. you are trying to pass it off by your butt, instead of behind your back witch gives you alot more armlength to work with.

NorthwestRider, im not exactly sure, but it looks like your your using the pop to do the trick, kinda like a backroll...Instead of getting the pop and pulling. Your supposed to do oa spins same as on axis. pop, then pull. you just pull towards you and down and flex your hips up. this way your arm/handle is in close so you can easily get the handle...good luck

I agree with PwR-HoUsE on you letting go of the handle before grabbing it with your other hand. You look like you have the right rotation (I have no idea really how to do this trick, just what it looks like), but are just rushing your pass, thinking that you have to let go with your first hand as soon as possible even if that is before you have the handle in your other hand

I can`t do this trick either.I`ve tried though. You have to really delay the spin so off the wake just let the board drift off behind you and it helps to look out the board while it does. Also make you keep BOTH hands on the handle till you pass becasue the rope is extrmely tight on this trick.

I THINK it's like a half backroll and then the same as an on-axis spin once you get in the position.

I'm trying to learn this trick too, so if i'm wrong, please tell me!

i landed both oa ts 5 and hs 3 last yr, and they are not nearly as hard as they seem..
the best advice i got was to pop, drop, and roll
on both tricks there is def a pause, if you try and throw the hs oa 3 like a br then u will overspin it and spin closer to a 7, just pop first dip ur right shldr if ur left foot forward and then put the handle in the small of ur back. once u get there ur golden, it helps to bring ur knees to ur up too.

ts oa 5 same thing but try and SIT on the handle after u pop!

hope this isnt too confusing

Actually, that looked pretty good to me. At the point when you dropped the handle, your right arm should maybe move across your back (it's way to the right side of your body) to your left hand to complete the handle pass. I'd say you're close, just focus on getting that handle.

i can't do them either but i have a decent amount of knowledge about them. What everyone else has said sounds good. But it looks like you may have flattened off before the wake some. But besides that, get those knees in like you are sitting in a chair and it should come pretty quick....

OK Im pretty positive I know what you are doing wrong. I freeze framed it, frame by frame and first of all, you didnt get a straight pop. If you look closely, your legs arent straight until you are almost in the middle of the wake. That could have made the spin harder.

Second of all, look at how your arms when you are passing the handle. For any spin you dont want to have your arms locked while passing. That only makes it harder. (The handle is farther away.) Try bending your arms more and passing it right behind your back instead of in outer space. Good Luck!

it kinda looks like you are tryin to do an off axis 360 so nexttime just go up like youre gonna jump HS or TS or which ever and when you hit the wake try to face backwards. ITs O.K. I can't get it down either Very Happy

If you watch the video slowly you will notice that when you are leaving the wake your hands are far from your body and at chest level. You are doing the trick by using your edge. this is fine but you need to have the handle at hip hight and at the wake give a sharp tug to give enough slack to get the handle. I also noticed you were throwing the handle into your other hand instead of passing it. Think of an olympic relay team they pass the baton into the other teammates hand instead of just tossing it. You are also trying to move the handle to the side of you body which just creates separation between the handle and the small of your back, instead, try to pull the handle into your hip instead of pushing it to the side of your body.

there are two ways to do this trick:

A. throw it like backroll which uses the edge to initiate a load and release. This is what will throw the board off axis and behind you. This way is a fine way to do it but requires a bit more muscle to get the handle. In order to get the handle you have to have the rope near your hips and at the top of the wake give a shart quick tug to give enough slack to get the handle into the small of your back. This is how i learned to do the trick.

B. Treat the trick like it were an on axis spin except when you pull the rope into your hip pull it in a down and to your hip. Make sure you keep two hands on the rope as long as possible. This is probably the more techniquly proficient meathod.

Good Luck hope this helps

That's the most important part of the trick. great advice.

a slow progressive edge has always helped out on that trick as well - it gives a slow floaty feeling to it.

oh ya, try it off the double up too! Laughing

if you do this trick agressivly, it becomes really easy. Do exactly what you're doing, but when going for the handle pass try and pull it across your ass so your left arm (which is always going to be preocupyed trying to balance) to make the pass easier and faster and smoother!

Wake_Turner is right on. Your biggest problem is that you're letting the handle get too far away from your body. Keep in close to your hips and you'll have it!
