|
|
Hey everyone, I had a quick question I have a 18ft Outboard with a 135 on the back. Will a 600# Fat Sac change anything? We have a monster tower on it which made a HUGE DIFFERENCE. I get some HUGE pop, but want to go higher. Its high enough I can land Tantrums with out having to rush myself and the trick feels nice and slow.
so my question is...will a fat sac make a difference and where would be the best place to place it. |

| Yes, a fat sack will make a difference. you want to equally weight your boat though, so If you get one 600lb sac the wake may be awkward, I'd get one 400-600 in the back, and one (maybe 100 to 200lbs less than the back) to put in the front. |

| Well the thing is like 50" long, would maybe putting it almost in the middle of the boat give it that proportion? |

138jobe, its going to need to be exactly in the middle, or else your wake will be all f'ed up. And when that happens it is very annoying.
And yes it will make a big difference in wake size. |

put the sac running up the middle of the boat just a bit more to the front.
and trim the leg up about 1/4 and the wake will get bigger and harder
if you put the sac in the back the boat will be doing a "wheelie" down the lake _________________ www.Crawlinbc.com |

If you can borrow some sacs that would be better. By this you will find what is best for YOUR boat without a waste of a single big sac.
Two of my buddies and myself took 6 sacs in the boat one morning and we spent 4 hours moving sacs, filling and emptying sacs, to find that perfect wake. We would each ride the wake then get in the boat and make some changes.
By the end of the season I changed my whole set-up. I am know running a fat seat in back, and a 500 and 250 in front. I love it.
Try to borrow before buying, it always helps. |

| Ridn9high, Im sure I will have to do that, I talked to someone that has the exact boat as ours, said the 500 is good for the back, trim your motor, and tossed a 300lb up front. steep and hard, but everyone is different so Im sure I will have to do what you said. |

actually, what me and a friend did is put BIG BERTHA(the big donut for tubing) in the back of the boat and filled it up about 3/4 of the way full and the wake was easily twice as big. it was huge!! _________________ yuo can raed a wrod if the frist and lsat letetrs are in the rihgt sopt. |

I have, it works.
You should conside though, how much weight will a 135 hp push. This depends on your hull shape and how many people you have on the boat. I've ridden behind my share of outboards, and most of them can't plane with an exessive amount of weight, or if they do, it's hard to maintain constant speed. Nothing is more annoying than having a pull that surges faster, slower, faster, slower. Just something to consider. I would definately try and borrow a sac or two and try it out first, before spending any $chedda$. |

when we have 8 people in our boat the wake is awesome, steep and hard. Im going to buy some tube sacs and try to simluate who was sitting there and how much they weighed...when it was the best
if that doesnt make sense, I just had one 2 many
I have noticed when outboards are evenly full of people they sit low like a tournie boat. ( I know the hull is different), the speed didnt change really, I have had the feeling of slow fast slow fast....it sucks...
okay enough babbling |
